Characterful coastal town. In Summer there were lots of market stalls both in the town square and along the beach front. The large beach has lots of water activities such as windsurfing and sailing but there are separate areas for swimming so it is safe and enjoyable with lifeguards attending.
The lighthouse is worth a visit - there's a lovely promenade walk to it and you can climb the stairs to the top for a lovely view of the area.
St Georges was much quieter than neighbouring Royan.

The beach is clean and easily accessible and very close to the town. We arrived on a Monday and unfortunately almost every restaurant, café, bar and most shops were closed giving us very little choice.

I loved this town & area on the western coast of France!
I loved this town & area on the western coast of France! It's not known to many Americans, but many French go there for vacation in July & August. I felt lucky to have found it, only because a French friend is from the region.
Places of interest are Talmont, Grotto Matata, Cotes Sauvage, lighthouse (phare) on the Ile de Re, are just a few. Mostly hanging out at the beach & going to the free evening concerts in Royan.

Lovely big old house with a modern interior.
Conveniently located for St. George's De Didonne.
Fantastic shower, better than 5 star hotels.
Incredibly comfortable living room with huge L shape sofa, big modern TV , WiFi and a lovely dining table.
2 bathrooms, both with showers. Bedrooms are comfortable. AC. Gardens. Private Parking. BBQ area. Community living in a quiet area.
Hosts were fantastic, everything very easy.
Able to park close to apartment. Hosts went out of their way to help us get the TV set up for English/streaming channels. Kitchen very well equipped with good quality coffee machine etc - all very new. Liked quiet location near to Forest of Suzac and quiet beach. Five minutes drive into town with free parking.
The apartment is within walking distance of the beach and the town. It has a good range of appliances within the apartment. It has a small but adequate patio area for external eating or sun bathing. We found it to be a pleasant stay with everything we needed for an enjoyable holiday.
This is a pretty house with a very comfortable room for two. It is next to the St-George city center and the beach, Royan can be reached by city bus in 10 minutes. The hosts are nice and welcoming, it was a pleasure to talk with them.
We loved this little hotel set back just 100m from the HUGE beach on a quite side road (with lots of parking). This hotel was peaceful and comfortable- great value for money. We had the breakfast - again great value.
Lovely clean compact apartment. Big safe garden with a beautiful friendly dog. Direct access to a promenade and the beach. Pleasant 15 walk to the town. Denis was lovely and let us into the apartment
early.
Tastefully designed interior where comfort and cleanliness were exceptional. Property close to beach great choice of restuarants and shops yet accomodation was very peaceful.
