Buses to other locations. Great cycling area. Pretty scenery. Shop, pub and village hall with events. Friendly local people with advice about locality. Super village walks.Food at the Fleece is excellent cuisine. Great beers too. A beautiful black and white mosaic floor in the church based on a copied design in the Vatican in Rome. Stunning and unique floor showing many bird pictures.
The hilly Wolds around the village are beautiful and invite walks up and down the locality. Roman, Viking and Anglo Saxon settlements have been evidenced in this area.

Bishop Wilton is a quiet, small picturesque village in the North Yorkshire Wolds with pretty cottages built on both sides of a stram which runs through it.The Fleece Inn has good food and drink and the hosts are very welcoming. The comminity shop in the village is run by volunteers and is well stocked with food stuffs, gifts and also has a cafe.
The area is ideal for walkers and people who love the countryside but is also lovely for touring about the Wolds by car as there are many villages off the beaten track to investigate and the main place nearby is Pocklington which has more shops, cafe's and pubs.

We stopped in Bishop Wilton as an alternative to stopping in the city centre.
Having previously stopped in the city centre, the 30 minute drive to Bishop Wilton was well worth it for the peace and tranquillity at night.
