Advocate Arms, hotel in Caenby

Less than 5 minutes’ drive from Market Rasen Racecourse, the 18th-century Advocate Arms is a 5-star restaurant with rooms, which serves local produce on its menu.

Convenient having the restaurant on site but expensive for what it was and little choice on the menu for our meals but breakfast was lovely other than the bacon was over cooked and inedible both mornings. Hotel provided a fan and heater in the room. Overall clean other than a couple of cobwebs on the bed head and brown liquid around toilet hinges but it mostly wiped off.

Charlotte House, hotel in Caenby

Beautiful 1930's Art Deco building directly opposite Lincoln Castle and only a few minutes' walk from the Cathedral and historic Bailgate, with its selection of independent shops and restaurants.

The hotel was brilliantly located with 2 lively Public Houses, an Indian and Spanish restaurant within 100 yards. It was only a short walk into Lincoln town centre and the quayside. The cafe in the courtyard was owned by the hotel and provided a good cooked breakfast at a reasonable price. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. The furniture in the room was old fashioned but this is exactly what we like in a hotel room. All in all this hotel was an excellent choice.

Castle Hotel & Apartments, hotel in Caenby

Situated next to the Lincoln Castle, the Grade II Listed Hotel offers individually styled rooms including Wi-Fi and luxury private bathrooms.

I made a mix up whilst booking, the owner of the hotel telephoned me in person the next day to reassure me dates could be changed and not to panic. She even very kindly threw in a room upgrade. The Customer Service was excellent and the hotel and location were fab too, as was the big breakfast!

A lovely quiet village with a great pub (which will be serving food in the next month,) we were very much welcomed by the publican and locals; which made our stay all the more enjoyable! It has a small village shop/P.O. which was handy. The next village, a mile away had a big pub, The Crown, which served excellent food. Lovely walks in and around the village and Lincoln City/Market Rasen only 10-15 minutes away. Great location away from the 'hustle and bustle' !!

We didn't visit "Caenby", this B&B is in a village named Normanby-by-Spital. It was chosen for near-proximity to an event we were attending in nearby Hackthorn, so we didn't spent any time in the village other than at the B&B, which was very comfortable and peaceful. We visited Lincoln during our stay, spending time in the historic cathedral quarter and on the waterfront - who'd ahve thought a city that's 30 miles inland would have that? Both were a very pleasant experience. I've wanted to visit Lincoln for many years and my wife hasn't been there since she was a child. We both had a relaxing and enjoyable time.

We were well placed for easy commutes to Market Rasen, Lincoln, Louth and Horncastle where we enjoyed town markets and independent shops. Lincoln has lots of eating places and coffee shops for a quick re-charge before taking on Steep Hill. The effort is worth it as there are some very interesting shops to visit.
