Terry was kind and tried to accommodate us, even though we could not make the breakfast times due to a departing flight in the morning. The school house is a cool twist to the regular B&Bs.

Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, hotel in Comber

With a contemporary design and a cozy atmosphere, Clandeboye Lodge is just 5 minutes’ drive from Bangor. There are beautiful landscaped sculpture gardens and the stylish rooms have free Wi-Fi.

Our room was very comfortable and the furnishings were without blemish. The hotel itself is very welcoming and much more homely than a certain more famous one a few miles closer to Belfast. The staff were both friendly and efficient at all times.

To be honest, I did not spend that much time in Comber itself. There are so many other places to visit in the area. Belfast, Strangford Lough and peninsula, Downpatrick, Newcastle, Mourne Mountains within easy driving distance. Comber was still a little bit quiet, with the lockdown just lifting. But everyone I met was very friendly. A good basis to explore a large part of Northern Ireland.

Lovely town with good amenities, we had a lovely meal in one of the local restaurants. Comber is not far from Newtownards which is larger with more shops and more to do, Belfast isn't that far away either.

It was a great place to stay.

It was a great place to stay. Not far from Belfast but also handy to the Ards peninsular to explore the beautiful coastline there. It has the usual narrow streets of Irish villages but getting around in our rental was fine.
