The staff were really friendly and the hotel had a nice bar and breakfast area. The size of the room I was in was good with two big windows making it nice and bright. The location was great as not far from my meeting location and the location was in a quiet area.

Elston is a very pretty village and a short walk takes you to the church and Elston Hall (home of Charles Darwin's father). Very peaceful and quiet. The pub in the village is closed but Elston is only a 5 min drive from Farndon, which has two good riverside restaurants (Fardon Ferry and The Riverside). It's just off the A46 so Newark (10 mins), Notts Sailing Club, Leicester, Nottingham, Melton Mowbray and the M1 etc. are all within a 30 minute drive. The whole area is great for cycling. If you are on a bike (or even if you're not) check out the nearby (20 mins) Caffe Velo Verde in Screveton.
