The room was large, private, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom, too, was all of the above. The breakfast was not what I expected--I am used to a cooked breakfast shared with other guests at B&Bs--but the selection of fruit, cereal, and pastries in the room was very good.

What a fantastic surprise! We booked the Cricketers last minute and, although it was late at night and rainy, we managed to find the pub where we were quickly shown to our two rooms. They were both warm and welcoming, with every amenity you could want. My grown daughter was thrilled with her room which was designed with a bit of pink. Ours was a bit more woodland themed and very serene.
The bathrooms were top notch and mine was perfectly handicapped accessible. I have limited mobility so I could take a shower without risks.
The breakfast was amazing with food cooked to order and many other delicious options.
The entire complex is perfect and I wish we could have stayed longer. Nearby market town was SO fascinating for shopping and food!

The location was great for my needs. Having stayed at other locations during my stay, we felt the price was a little on the high side for each night. For less of a price at others we received a full english breakfast. The room also was clean but not sparkling.

Such a cute little place to stay if you have an early morning flight at Stansted! The place was spotless and even had some snacks/drinks you could buy.
Just make sure you book a taxi to the airport in advance as Uber is not available out there and a lot of taxis were booked up.
The Potting Shed is located in Manuden, just 26 miles from Chelmsford Train Station and 27 miles from Hedingham Castle.

This place is magic. I loved my stay. Everything you need. Peace and quiet, beautiful surroundings. Very comfortable. Extremely clean, and everything is well thought out and considered to allow an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Wish I could of stayed another night. Excellent hosts. I had travelled down from the north for an interview in Stanstead, Kaye let me stay beyond my check out, this allowed me to prepare a little more for the interview. Which went very well.
My advice - give the potting shed a go, you will wish you found this gem earlier, keep an eye out for the barn owl. Bliss.

Very comfortable bed, slept like a log.
