The staff on the whole were really efficient and the room was gorgeous and the little touches eg lamb for do not disturb, window seat and comfortable bedding, dressing gowns and flip flops and temple spa shampoos etc. The spa was fabulous and really relaxing and made for a fabulous break and I would definitely come again.
The restaurant staff - I assume the restaurant manager (didn't get his name) and main bar staff - I think her name was Agnieszka (sorry if I spelt it wrong) were both attentive and personable and made you feel at ease.

A lovely immaculately clean cottage in a beautiful location. The setting was gorgeous and ideally placed for visiting York and the surrounding area- we had a great day out at Castle Howard. Thank you!
A well kitted out hotel/inn. Very comfortable beds and chairs in both restaurant, bar and beer garden, Very friendly and helpful staff. We ate in the restaurant but the same menu was available throughout the inn. The village is very quiet and clean. More facilities available close by at Oswaldkirk and Helmsley.

A few lovely walks close by, great for peace and tranquillity. Fairfax Arms has a great vegan menu, the staff were so helpful and friendly. Take a walk to Gilling Lake and pay a visit to the chocolate shop on the way.

Really pleasant small village, well located for visiting the surrounding area. The local pub, The Fairfax, was a revelation. We ate there both nights and had two of the best meals we have had in a very long time. The staff were excellent too, very friendly and attentive. We will return to both our accommodation at the Parcel Shed and to the Fairfax.
The location of the hotel is fantastic for travelling around the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast. The hotel breakfast was great with lots of choice and attentive staff. All staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. I was a single traveller so choose to eat in the informal section of the Inn in the evening. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Decent wine was also available at the bar.
The food is outstanding and I mean outstanding. I'm gobsmacked how nice this place is. By far my favourite hotel I've stayed in on Booking.com. To top it off they had a free mini chocolate selection box in the room that were made by autistic children at the nearby college. I want this place to myself but I would advise anybody to use this fine hostelry
Such a lucky find. A lovely little place in a beautiful village. Friendly, helpful staff (and locals!), a comfortable room, delicious chocolates too. The breakfast was one of the best hotel examples of a 'full English" that I can remember. Especially the black pudding and the bacon.
Totally surprised at how good this hotel was - facilities excellent, restaurant excellent and staff were prepared to go the ‘extra mile’ to help make our stay good. Would recommend to everyone - we will return for sure.
Room was lovely, clean and very spacious
Restaurant was great, food and service was amazing
Hotel was all in all excellent
Staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome, we will be coming again
The Fairfax was just what we wanted a real English Country Pub style hotel with rooms and excellent food.
The conservatory for breakfast was perfect as was the snug bar for evening meal.
Breakfast was outstanding and certainly used top quality locally sourced produce. We did not dine at the hotel as we were booked in elsewhere, but the menu looked very good indeed
