Breakfast was brilliant, views are superb, stylish hotel with 3 of the finest peacocks you will ever meet. The staff are a delight too. DO do the Sunday tasting menu - it's worth it.

From start to finish, the Fountain hotel just kept giving. The breakfast choice was fantastic, as was the food on offer at the bar. An absolute gem of a place for a walking holiday.

The room, bed, comfort and cleanliness all exceeded our expectations. The hosts were brilliant and very helpful. We were walking the Lady Anne Way over 8 nights and this was the best accommodation we had - a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Hawes is one of my favourite places.
Hawes is one of my favourite places. Wensleydale creamery for superb cheese, the Dales Countryside Museum at the old station and old rope works are all interesting. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking with walks for all abilities. There are loads of pubs and cafes and a smattering of local shops to explore. This is a real honey pot for daytrippers in the summer and its amenities attract walkers all year round. I would highly recommend visiting.

Amazing market town, surrounded by stunning scenery.
Amazing market town, surrounded by stunning scenery. Best place to eat is the White Hart Inn, which is usually very busy so booking a table may be advised. As a disabled person who struggles to get around I found it flat and manageable.

Hawes is a small but unusually charming town.
Hawes is a small but unusually charming town. It offers access to the Pennine Way, with hundreds of miles of walking trails through the Yorkshire Dales. The town itself has a pub, a tea room, a pretty parade of shops, a couple of good grocery stores, and is home to the Wensleydale creamery, which offers tours and cheese tasting. Among the unique shops in Hawes are an exquisite colored pencil artist and a very knowledgeable gemstone tradesman.

Ideal location to discover Wensleydale and Swaledale....
Ideal location to discover Wensleydale and Swaledale....lovely " town" centre but parking a nightmare. Every spot on high street taken all day ,dozens of bikers squeezed motorbikes into small spaces left. Had to park 400yds from accommodation and pay £4 parking fee then move car to space on main street about 20.00 hrs.
