The hotel is in a small village with a shop, a village hall and a very nice little pub that serves great ale. The hotel is not cheap but it delivers in a lot of ways. The food is lovely, both in the bar and the restaurant, the pool is very nice, the rooms and housekeeping are great but above all else it was the staff. They were polite and made time to chat and talk about the area and such. The location, close proximity to Haytor, and Dartmoor in general is a walkers dream. We enjoyed early morning hiking in Dartmoor. Walk to Haytor rocks early in the morning at 07:00 was very enjoyable. Torquay is only 30 to 40 minutes by car which we visited and there are lot of other attractions in the area to enjoy.SANTOKHUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Breakfast lovely, I would have given an overall 10 but the evening menu was a let down. The restaurant and bar menus both served basically the same a'la cart dishes. Wasn't impressed with paying £4.95 for an extra portion of chips because the meal itself was so small. However, there is a lovely pub, carpenters arms, which is in walking distance where we had a lovely meal. The price is a really great value.
