Kira the proprietress was exceptionally welcoming and nice -- greeting me upon arrival, chatting a bit by the coal-fueled fireplace blazing, and providing a fine breakfast in a homey environment. Thank you!

Proprietor was super-friendly. Room was modern and spotlessly clean but also comfortable and quiet. We ate both dinner and breakfast at The Artisan restaurant downstairs in same building as our room. Absolutely delicious modern take on both Irish and eclectic dishes. Great bakery across the street. Easy street parking.

Beautiful old hotel in a stunning location. The food in the restaurant was honestly INCREDIBLE (I had the scallop and prawn risotto). Staff were all super friendly. Room was lovely and clean with a fantastic view. I will definitely be staying again

Quiet fishing village with a shop, restaurant/takeaway and 3 pubs. Few nice local walks - down the coast to St John's Point and the rope walk down around the harbour in the village. Some great beaches aswell
Plenty of interesting places to visit around the area from Newcastle up to Downpatrick and back around the coast.

A great base for getting to anywhere south of Belfast.
A great base for getting to anywhere south of Belfast. Killough itself is small but a lovely pub within walking distance and such a lovely place to stay - very quiet. We didn't spend enough time there really to give a full review of the village.

Lovely little historic village in a stunning location on the coast. The village itself is very quiet and there aren't really any restaurant or takeaway facilities, so bear this in mind. But there is a Costcutter where you can buy supplies if you are self catering and Ardglass and Downpatrick are both nearby where you can buy anything else you may need.
Tyrella and Murlough beaches are both very nearby and are both excellent and Blue Flag rated.
We also spent a very nice evening in the Anne Boal Inn which we would definitely recommend. Friendly welcoming owner and locals and a roaring fire! Just what you need after a day on the beach.

A beautiful village, great facilities, lovely views across the water and of the Mournes if you walk to the bridge - be careful when footpath ends.
Curlews and oystercatchers seen and heard, much other bird life.
Within a few miles is St John's Point; also a lovely beach at Rossglass with stunning views of the Mournes. A little further is Killard Point (great for a walk and we saw lots of seals) and Ballyhornan beach, vast and virtually empty, looking across to Guns Island and the Isle of Man.
We sat by the harbour in Strangford with ice-creams after a great meal at The Cuan Inn. We took the ferry across to Portaferry, just for the ride!
Fantastic views from the top of Slieve Patrick, after a visit to the church at Saul. St Patrick's Centre in Downpatrick tells his story really well; there's a lovely shop and a great café too. The museum at the gaol is worth a visit; our visit coincided with the Artisan Market, plenty of produce, crafts and music. That was just a taste of glorious Lecale.

Killough is a small village.
Killough is a small village. There isn’t an awful lot too it but there is a well stocked shop. It was a great location for us as we wanted to explore locations either side of it along the coastline. The scenery is beautiful, with a lovely walk along the sea front and a small beach which didn’t seem much used so was almost private. It is mainly rocky but when the tide is out a bit there is a nice sandy bit too enjoy. The play park is well equipped but a little untidy/dirty.

Great little village, the children loved rock pooling.
Great little village, the children loved rock pooling. A lovely cafe but no other restaurants. Killough is handy for getting to many areas of Northern Ireland. Take a trip to Tollymore national park, it is truly breath taking.
