As we were staying to attend a wedding at Clearwell castle, we didn’t get to use the facilities of the hotel this time but were impressed with what we saw. The room was fine , plenty of comfy bedding towels etc and nice bathroom

Small town with all you need for a comfortable stay. Supermarkets, pub, takeaways, and restaurants all good, but no so much to do in the twon itself. A walk around the harbour and along the clifftop recommended. Great base to explore Chepstow; Ross on Wye; Monmouth; and the Forest of Dean.

I only went to Lydney to visit a distant cousin living there, I guess I would only go there again as Lydney is one of a number of towns in the Forest of Dean. My ancestors were from Gloucestershire but from over the Severn Bridge. The good thing was that Lydney has a railway station and trains are fairly frequent. That said my cousin and her husband had to meet me as the station is about a mile from the town and where I stayed was about a mile in the other direction.

There is not much to see at Lydney except the old harbour.
There is not much to see at Lydney except the old harbour. The Globe at Alvington has excellent food and service. The Woolaston Arms has a good Nepalese restaurant but the rooms leave a lot to be desired.

We were not new to the area so know Lydney quite well and we were in fact staying in Parkend just a few miles away. There is a big Tesco’s in Lydney as well as lots of shops and pubs that you would expect in a small town.

welcoming little villiage large tesco not far away from cottage we stayed at, some lovely country pubs, walks etc and reccomend a breakfast at beechenhurst country park lovely walks there and special childrens walks where they can collect thing and an amazing sculpture trail
I've stayed at the George before and would normally book the George because it is close to my place of work. Good parking in the pub car park. Large comfortable room, in this instance a family room since this was the only one available. Restaurant food is excellent, well above the normal hotel fare. Breakfast equally satisfying. The pub itself has a good selection of beers, wines and spirits - I don't normally judge a hotel by the quantity of alcohol available. Well worth a visit and will stay there again.
The accommodation was really clean and well equipped. The keys would have been in the key safe, but our friendly host happened to be outside when we arrived and gave us the keys and lots of handy information about the local area. It's a very short walk to the nearest pub, where the food was good. We liked having a little bit of outdoor space. It was really hand for the steam railway and cycle hire, and there were nice walks in the area. It only takes 10 minutes to get into Lydney by road.
Great value stay, 10 minutes drive from Dean Forest Railway Museum, and Lydney close by.
Really comfortable bed and pillows.
Welcoming and polite hosts.
Great having the Gurka restaurant downstairs and the overly pub atmosphere downstairs was nice.
Really lovely garden and more than ample parking space.
Fab breakfast!
We were a family group of five ladies, booking a king room and a family room and can't fault the Inn or the family who run the Inn at all.
Friendly welcome when we arrived. The room had good space for the family - the layout of the beds was good. We had the larger bathroom as it was the accessible room which worked well. Storage in the room was really practical with plenty of open shelving units - all simple and practical. Location was great, at the top end of Lydney with the high street a short walk away.
Great Host, very friendly, Lots of TV channels to watch including Talk TV and GBNews unlike other Hotel chains, Peaceful location, Apartment well equipped, access easy from Car (like a Motel) nice accommodation, No Bath tub to soak and relax in after long tiring day, Nice Breakfast included, Unlimited Tea
The Hotel was easy to find. The room had the facilities required for an overnight stay and was well prepared. It was nice to have a bathroom that had an extractor fan that worked! Most hotel’s don’t!
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Would use this hotel again.
The hotel was clean and tidy as usual and the food was exceptiional as always. I would recommend the momos as a starter and any of the nepalese dishes as a main course. For once i did not have rice and had the nepalese potatoes and peas which were delicious a nice change
All staff fabulous would give some 4 star hotels a few lessons excellent dinner and breakfast
Comfy bed and v good sheets pillows and towels
Free parking
We had last room which had external private bathroom opposite the bedroom so not a problem
Thanks
Staff are polite and helpful. Clean comfortable hotel. Breakfast ok however Indian takeaway was lovely. Hotel has cosy bar and restaurant. Can't comment on restaurant as we had takeaway with family. However family told us it was a lovely restaurant
Clean and comfortable Motel on the outskirts of Lydney with onsite parking; despite being on a main road (though set back a little) the location is quiet. Lydney High Street is a short walk away and it is a good base for accessing the Dean Forest.
My partner and I felt very welcomed and looked after during our stay at the Swan Tea Room. The accomodations were exceptional and the facilities were plentiful. The breakfast was very good, probably the best we've had for a long time.
The room was clean, very comfortable, and the member of staff was amazing. She went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Forest of Dean.
