Looked forward to visiting The King's Head Hotel for some time, well worth the wait. Very much enjoyed our stay, great room, great food and the friendly staff made it a memorable experience. Plus parking nearby was good. Will be back again.
This charming traditional coaching inn is a Grade II listed building and still retains many of its beautiful original features, such as exposed wooden beams.

As we were staying to attend a wedding at Clearwell castle, we didn’t get to use the facilities of the hotel this time but were impressed with what we saw. The room was fine , plenty of comfy bedding towels etc and nice bathroom

We arrived too late for a shopping trip through the town but it looked interesting enough to make another trip during the day. We had an inside meal in the Chippy by the gateway into the town and it was very good. I think that it would be an interesting town to explore and there is the river to check out as well. It looks like you can even park in the town which must be a rare bonus. We would have liked to see some of the historic sites but sadly we were basically only staying overnight.

Monmouth is a lovely town with lots of shops, market, places to eat and theatres. We stayed to go to the theatre and had an excellent evening show with Alfie Moore. There are excellent butcher shops and M&as food . There are lovely riverside walks and further afield the Forest of Dean to explore.

Monmouth itself is very pretty and quite touristy. We didn't spend too much time there but explored the countryside and villages around. We went to Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow and a couple of castles. What a beautiful area. This area is also quite food-y. In fact the small restaurant we used on our first evening had a Michelin star - how lucky was that?

There isn't much to do here, but the point of our trip is always the same, so we do get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
People are so friendly and helpful. The only place I know where around 80% of the population say good morning, and acknowledge you.
Two definite recommendations - if going in August head to Harts (fantastically discounted bras and swimwear for the ladies), and don't leave without going to Coffee Lab. Superb!

Monmouth is a lovely small town, with an excellent array of shops, including many small specialised enterprises, some interesting historic buildings, beautiful countryside around and also very friendly people. There is plenty to do and see in the town and it is a great centre for visiting cities such as Cardiff, Hereford, Cheltenham and Bristol. Not far from Monmouth is Symonds Yat, on the border between England and Wales, and some fantastic border castles such as Goodrich, Skenfrith and the White Castle. Road links too are very good.

Monmouth is a great base for visiting the area with many sights and attractions close by.
La Piccola Italian restaurant is fantastic.
Excellent food and service - it was the highlight of our holiday!
We loved the location because we could walk into Monmouth in 10 minutes. We also had parking at the hotel for our car. Our room was clean and comfortable with a kettle and TV. The monsoon shower was spacious with calming blue light option. We had a view of the Wye valley and beautiful sunsets.
Stuart’s cooked Welsh breakfasts are so delicious with a perfect variety of local products.
All the staff provide great service and made us feel at home.
John's Lookout was the perfect property for our stay in Monmouth. The location was perfect - a few minutes walk into the town and very easily accessible to get onto the motorway. The view was absolutely amazing and the neighbourhood was quiet. The actual house was a home away from home with all the modern amenities and very nice finishes complete with outdoor entertainment area.
What a lovely room (hares)! Nice decorative details. It was clean and cosy. In the centre of the town. Unfortunately we came on a monday so the bar and all the shops were closed. Not really a B&B but more a hotel with not so much personal contact, which we didn't mind, but you should be aware of. Great choices in breakfast!
Absolutely lovely place to stay. Wonderful hosts, big room with huge en-suite and comfy bed. Was only there for one night, but would return in a heartbeat! Missed breakfast as had to make an early start, but it smelt and looked amazing.
Much better than a mainstream hotel. A great find. Well done folks!!
There were places to walk around outside of the hotel that were pleasant to visit a good amount of shops and cheep booze , bottled water in the room was a nice surprise, nice surply of tea coffee exc,the room was a nice size and clean looked after very well , all the staff were friendly and accommodating
Breakfast was self-catering which was ideal for me since I don't like fitting with hotel timetables and don't always want a huge cooked meal. Bread, butter, milk and coffee were provided in the annex, along with excellent jams. Refills were no problem for the hosts. The room was very quiet.
Staff friendly and helpful. They were in a bit of a catch 22 situation as the hotel was just about to close for refurbishment for 4 weeks and so had no other facilities or food provision available. This was explained up front so not too much of a problem.
Neil was so friendly and interesting. The place is full of history and character and if you're looking to stay somewhere other than a typical hotel, then this place is for you. Original fireplaces from the 16th century. Amazing!
Very Good value for money.
Very good location.
Big room and en-suite. Clean and in good condition.
Wonderful breakfast.
Good hotel bar with Wifi and sport on TV.
Very helpful and nice staff.
We had a lovely couple of days.
This hotel was in a very good location just off the dual carriageway, and had a very very very quick check in at the Asda opposite (ignore all the emails that tell you to go to Spar)
