I organize student travel, and brought a group of 13 to Roam West. Communication with the facility was quick and helpful. The location of this hostel was great, as our preference was to be away from crowds and noise--Roam West is in a beautiful setting! The beds were comfortable, except for the bunk bed mattresses, which were very springy. This hostel felt very safe and it was quiet and very family friendly. Parking options weren't the best, but we had no concerns about the security of our vehicles, which was nice. The rooms were a little cold, and we all felt we needed an extra blanket. The bathroom lights were motion sensitive and on timers--several of us were caught unawares when the lights went out during our shower and we had to find a way reach out an arm to wave at the motion sensor to get them back on. We did not have the opportunity to try breakfast or dinner. We arrived late in the evening, so only interacted with one staff member, but he was very pleasant and cheerful. Before booking, we did not understand that this was a hostel--that's on us. With a better understanding now of what to expect, we would absolutely stay here again, modifying our expectations. Everything was extremely clean, and that was one of our top priorities, and each room had it's own bathroom, so we would definitely come back. :)
In a stunning location, between the mighty Glencoe Mountains, this baronial Highland hotel offers an irresistible blend of history and style with modern comforts and luxuries.

The Wooly Rock is conveniently located in North Ballachulish with easy and quick access into the beautiful Glencoe Valley. The B&B is warm and inviting and the rooms are comfortable. Parking is available on-site. The owners are the perfect hosts and could not have been more friendly and inviting. One of us was ill during our stay and the hosts were so kind and considerate allowing us a late checkout so that we could rest. The hospitality and concern for our care was exceptional.
Extra large bed (true American king-sized bed). Host was so helpful to us and truly went above and beyond. We arrived later in the evening and she arranged for us to get into a nearby seafood restaurant that was soooo good. She helped us to contact our ferry company to ask a question on the morning we departed. She had a variety and "late night snacks" easily available for us. The breakfast was incredible. Wi-Fi was good. Parking right at our doorstep.
Gaynor was a welcoming and thoughtful host. She wrote us in advance to let us know that restaurants in the area were getting booked so that we could plan ahead. She also checked on us when we arrived later than planned. Breakfast was great, a combination of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, pastries and eggs and breakfast meats cooked to order. The room was comfortable and as advertised had a nice view of one of the mountains in the area.
Hosts were VERY helpful and friendly! Finn (the chocolate lab) was a wonderful bonus! Delicious breakfast. Beautiful walk thru forest to small, rocky beach. Wonderful pub nearby (walking distance) with outdoor patio and great views!
We had had a rough travel day upon arrival and the hosts were extra kind/understanding and "saved" our day (and our next)!
The Woolly Rock is the perfect place to stay if you are in the area. We were there to take in the Glencoe scenic area and drive. Dana is the perfect host and Mike cooks a great breakfast. The BNB is clean and comfortable. our host recommended The Ballachulish Hotel for dinner. it’s a 5 minute walk and the food was delicious.
Thanks to our hosts!
The accommodation was outstanding. The hostess Gaynor was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. She made you feel very welcomed. The room was very clean and well appointed. Extras like biscuits/ lollies with tea and coffee and a fridge available to place your food were a nice touch. The house is well located for exploring the area.
High quality comfortable house situated in a quiet and secluded part of North Ballachulish. Nearby amenities include co-op store (8min drive) and petrol station (5 min drive) Spacious well equiped kitchen. Views to die for. Bit on the pricier side but worth every penny, and you get what you pay for.
The ease of key access, and the location of this Lodge is perfect. The privacy and peacefulness was exactly what you want for a romantic getaway also close to fort William and north Ballachulish is just a short car journey away. I would 100% book this Lodge again and would recommend this to anyone.
