Cooked breakfast was fantastic! The rooms were basic and dated, but still comfortable.

We had everything we needed regarding the facilities. The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable. There were maps and local food information available and the whole property was clean and welcoming.

We actually spent most of our time outside Rhymney, so didn't form a detailed impression of it. It is easy enough to get to and from when visiting other sites in the Brecon Beacons. We were pleased to find a takeaway and a petrol station

I did not really stay in Rhymney.
I did not really stay in Rhymney. I had to walk from the railway station to the hotel in Princetown. The views of the countryside were interesting, although it was drizzling on the arrival day. I got some rambling done, in the nearby industrial estate, a nature reserve and in Tredegar. It's a lovely area. Worth visiting. The buses run on Saturdays and weekdays, if you do not drive. I did not have enough time to go rambling thoroughly in the nearby hills . Luckily, I will be moving to the area.

Taxi company I rang was excellent. Star Cabs very reliable turned up as and when requested. Highly recommended.
The Lord Nelson Hotel highly recommended only an hour on the train from Cardiff.

the surrounding area was interesting quiet but not as relaxing or as attractive as I am used to. Rhymney itself is run down. It is however really convenient for visiting other places and for the parc if you like biking and walking.
We went camping and had a horrible experience, so we left the campsite and stopped at the nearest hotel - which happened to be the Lord Nelson. The staff are incredibly nice and accomodating, the rooms are sparkling clean and the bedsheets smell of detergent. It was absolutely perfect and after what had been an absolutely terrible day, I slept like a baby.
The best bits: super clean; free parking; amazing owner and staff; excellent breakfast
Fortunately I eat pretty much anything as I wasn't actually asked what I'd like for the cooked breakfast, and was served the full English, which was absolutely superb however so not a problem, Bacon was cooked exactly how I like it and clearly decent local produce/ingredients used which was great
The room was roomy and comfortable and the power-shower was the best hotel shower I've had in a long time
Staff were very welcoming and accommodated all of our needs (two vegans and we were both so grateful of the effort the staff put in to accommodate this when cooking our breakfast!). Hotel was absolutely worth the price- clean and modern rooms and breakfast included, couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our trip to Wales!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The hotel is easy to find and placed in a lovely location. The breakfast was delicious, couldn't fault anything and we are definitely going to book again. Thank you to the lovely staff.
Lovely traditional hotel well located for exploring the Brecon Beacons and surrounding area. Generous sized room with comfy bed. Hosts were friendly and made us feel welcome. Bar had a good mix of guests and locals which made for a great atmosphere.
The location was perfect for our purposes. The hotel was essentially a pub with four bedrooms. The evening meal was good and hot and the breakfast was excellent. The staff and locals were very welcoming and friendly.
Incredibly helpful hotel and pub staff who always went above and beyond. Value for money breakfast and accommodation. Main attractions easily accessible with car. Felt like a local!
A lovely Hotel / Pub . Nice clean comfortable room with a good shower .Great breakfast with very cheerful staff. Good value for money and we would definitely stay again.
Friendly quiet hotel and great vegan and vegetarian breakfasts well presented and tasted amazing ,great night sleep .very friendly and pleasant hotel .
