Convenient location for our trip as we were visiting family in the area. Accommodation was very comfortable with many extra thoughtful touches.

The room was small with a comfy bed unfortunately it had been a really warm day so had trouble nodding off no complaints.

Stayed for one night as we were visiting 2 local RSPB reserves both of which were just a few minutes drive away. Less than 10 minutes walk into town with all the expected facilities. Room was very clean with a lovely, easy to use en-suite shower. Work is being done on the outside of the building and the kitchen was closed for refurbishment but this didn't impact on our stay. Staff were friendly and welcoming. A complimentary breakfast provided everything we needed. Situated directly opposite the Castleford Tigers Rugby ground so in quite an industrial setting with a fairly busy road out front but double glazing cut out traffic noise and we slept well in a very comfortable bed.
Surrounded by beautiful, quiet parkland and gardens, Hazlewood Castle & Spa is a striking ancient building, thoughtfully restored and tastefully renovated to offer a distinct, different experience.

The location. The castle steeped in history. The maintained grounds. The walks in the woods. The Bluebells. We enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant & the breakfast.
The issue we had with our room was dealt with promptly by Amanda, thank you.

Unfortunatly there was a problem with the water supply as it was coming out rusty, after the hotel drained off all the hot water in the tank to get it to run clear which took about an hour it meant we then had to wait for the water to warm up enough to have a shower so half the evening was waisted.

The staff were fantastic.
The staff were fantastic. After an initial mix up with the booking which was due to the automated booking service the staff went above and beyond to not only rectify it but to make it better including a free taxi too and from a wedding party we we're going too. The location itself isn't the best due to the scrap/ haulage yard right behind the building but if its just a room for a night or two or a base for exploring the surrounding area then the staff more than make up for that. All in all a good value base camp with great staff.

Amazing service from the staff
Amazing service from the staff
Rooms were freezing and tiny heating doesn’t work so you are given a little oil heater which doesn’t make a difference
Electric kept tripping in our room so we complained and they moved us rooms
No telephone in any rooms so if you need to contact reception you have to walk there (not being lazy, it’s a good 5 minute walk)

Didn't see much of South Milford as we were visiting relatives based in Tadcaster. We were around for the blowing up of the Ferrybridge power station chimneys ... and visited Lotherton Hall - lots of birds and a few animals to see - good for youngsters

We paid very little for a small double room and later upgraded to a large double with bath. Happy that we did as we had a large bedroom with a very large refurbished bathroom. Great stay where we hope to visit again very soon as it is oerfectly situated next to the A1 although we heard no noise. Cannot wait to use their lovely restaurant again the staff were the best.

evening meal was sadly a disaster and very expensive...
evening meal was sadly a disaster and very expensive restaurant. says its award winning but I wonder where . the hotel seems geared for business men and odly there were tradesmen in dirty clothes drinking out front of hotel at 9am not agood look
We liked the location, the grounds at the rear, dog friendly, the staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help accommodate our request to eat outside on the patio. The duty manager during our stay was Gavin, who made us feel at ease, he was very nice, very happy and like all members of staff, made us feel very welcome. We will always use this hotel whenever we are in this part of England. We have used others in the area, but this one is excellent. Great service, great food, and large rooms with very comfortable beds.
The hotel itself was very clean, staff helpful and all ways at hand . Our room was clean with plenty of room. we had a huge tv, plenty of tea and coffee. This room had a bath , just what you need after a long day walking. Food was plenty and well tast, we had lunch, dinner and breakfast, not over expensive either. We opted for twin room, beds were really comfortable, bedding clean and really warm quilts. Air conditioning, so nice cool room in day and lovely warm at night. Hair dryer in room, plenty of quality towels.
Hotel was a stop off en route to Scotland. We had a comfortable sleep before making our way further north. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pizzas in the evening and the breakfast in the morning were more than satisfactory. The manager on duty explained how the plans for refurbishing the hotel had been hit by COVID, but also talked enthusiastically about what improvements they hope to make over the rest of the year.
The hotel welcomed dogs and had some decent grounds for dog walking.
The hotel is very well situated and has a pleasant feel in the public areas. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The bar was reasonably priced and there was soft music playing giving a relaxed atmosphere.
The breakfasts were very good and cooked really well, although some items were running out on our second day.
Hotel was a good location, staying as a family of 4 for a wedding. No cots for kids as both under 2 however plenty of space to put our own up. Staff were helpful and breakfast was lovely (however got there late so wasn’t loads left, totally our fault) Room was clean, good stay all together.
Friendly sympathetic bar staff.. greedy hotel and lack of staff ruining business.. I've been customer for over 3
0 years .. it's such a rubbish hotel now... very sad
