Fortingall Hotel, hotel in Stron-fearnan

Fortingall is a charming 4-star country house hotel near Aberfeldy, at the entrance to Glen Lyon and the gateway to the beautiful Scottish Highlands.

The hotel was lovely, and the staff were incredible and really made the whole experience. We arrived on the Friday when they have live music which was loud as we were above the bar, but the moment we checked in they told us exactly when this would end and it did. They did ask us if we needed it to end earlier to ask and its be switched off in a heart beat. The music was actually really great and we didn't feel any need to ask! Again the staff were incredible and a credit to the hotel.

Ailean Chraggan, hotel in Stron-fearnan

Located in Aberfeldy, a 14-minute walk from Castle Menzies, Ailean Chraggan has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

We stayed two nights in two different rooms and both were spacious and comfortable. The private bathrooms were fitted with large showers and heated towel racks. Breakfast was full Scottish or a choice of several other options including smoked salmon. Parking on site was close and off the road. The view from the restaurant and the covered veranda was of fields and mountains where we watched deer and rabbits during our meals. We returned for a second night because we enjoyed the first so much. The owner was there for both breakfast be and dinner. He is a wonderful host and very attentive.

Located 22 miles from Castle Menzies, The Courie Inn offers 4-star accommodations in Killin and features a restaurant, a bar and water sports facilities.

Beautiful area of Scotland, surrounded by mountains. Saw many hikers enjoying their time here. Lovely little inn with a nice size room, comfortable bed and good shower. Bonus chocolates in room were a nice touch. Downstairs is a lovely pub full of folk enjoying life, but quieted down nicely as the evening went on. We booked dinner at their restaurant too and it was very good, and hopping! Included breakfast which was well prepared and kindly served.

Best were the views of Loch Tay.

Best were the views of Loch Tay. Easy access to Pitlochry, an hour's drive. Local people in Stron-fearnan were friendly and helpful. Best eating place was in Aberfeldy at the Schehallen hotel (spelling is wrong!!) The Courtyard in Stron-fearnan served good bar food and was dog friendly. Scenery was second to none! Trees arched the roads completely, so beautiful! We felt a car is essential. A beautiful part of the world, not to be missed. Lots of amazing wild life. Red squirrels are gorgeous! Was lucky enough to see a golden eagle. Go to Fortingall and see the Yew tree. 5000 years old Yew tree. Our late Queen has visited. We really enjoyed our stay.
