Stayed here many times and the experience has been varied over the years - on this occasion we were pleasantly surprised to find that the refurb that has been carried out has been quite comprehensive, which was great as we have encountered all sorts of problems with plumbing etc in the past. The family room we had booked was spacious, clean and fresh, seconary double glazing makes it a bit of a faff to get the windows open for some fresh air but on the upside it does keep out the road noise. Good value on booking.com, actually better than their own website, which is not always the case, nowhere else to eat/drink in the vicinity but the bar and restaurant are OK and there's plenty of nice outdoor space if the weather is amenable. Staff are always very friendly and on this occasion more on top of the job and less stressed than they have sometimes been in the past. There was a time when it was getting bad and we were debating whether to find another hotel for our regular visits to the area, but based on this experience we'd happily return.

This hotel is in a quiet location, has a large car park with large spaces, Very helpful staff, lovely room, clean, large comfortable bed, we used the restaurant which has a good menu, the food was excellent. We needed breakfast earlier than the hotel offered. One of the girls was asked if she could come in early just for us, the reply was of course with a smile, the breakfast was lovely.

Lovely area and I think the hotel is lovely too just needs a few adjustments. I am sure there
Was no malice meant but we really did feel unwelcome. In particular the person who greeted us and was there at checkout was not very friendly and barely looked up from his computer screen. I am sure we caught him on a bad day but it really impacted our stay.
The pork trio was mind blowingly good as was all the food in general. Even got a made to order omelette for breakfast.
Ewelina has a fantastic customer rapport and friendly warm nature. A credit to the hotel, she could teach others a lot !!
Nice tidy clean room and comfortable bed. Staff mostly attentive.
The hotel is set in beautiful and peaceful countryside and there are several public footpaths around if you enjoy walking.
It is also dog friendly. The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom. The food in the restaurant was very good with a large choice and staff were friendly and helpful.
Staff were mainly friendly, efficient and hard working.
Room 3 had a lovely outlook over the river Wheelock and church.
The church bells ringing the times through the day and night was like stepping back in time.
The whole hotel was dog friendly and dogs are made to feel as welcome as the hoomans.
Lovely room, very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a real bonus we could take our dog with us and the rooms were spotless and fresh not like many hotels that allow dogs and you can tell dogs have stayed in the room.
Imaginatively decorated. Lovely building. Rooms really nice. Good excellent, so too well-kept real ales. Cosy public areas, despite being large. It feels like an individual establishment, not the impersonal chain pub/hotels which are everywhere, these days.
