The Crown Fakenham, hotel in Weasenham

Featuring a bar, The Crown Fakenham is set in Fakenham in the Norfolk region, 15 km from Houghton Hall and 31 km from Blickling Hall.

Breakfast was quite good and the entire place seemed to be well cleaned (and even had a fresh scent when we arrived). Note to the owners: please do not ever downgrade your cleaning work, it's been a pleasant surprise and causes a much better first impression when compared to other places I've been to, which had stains, dirt and a not so pleasant / clean smell when coming in.

The location is beautiful. In a picturesque country village that has many duck ponds! Our room looked out over the village green and the church. So clean and tidy. Great interior design. Very relaxing. Food in the gastropub was really good and the staff were fantastic

The Rampant Horse Public House, hotel in Weasenham

Set in Fakenham and with Houghton Hall reachable within 16 km, The Rampant Horse Public House offers a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

I was just looking for a simple, comfortable and economical place to lay my head after attending a function nearby. From this point of view the rooms above this pub fitted the bill perfectly. Clean, with a comfortable bed, storage space and fridge, tea, coffee, orange juice & breakfast cereals. Shared bathroom facilities not a problem at this price, and considering the small number of rooms. Free private car park. No cooked breakfast offered but plenty of options close by.

Nar river b&b, hotel in Weasenham

Boasting a patio with garden views, a garden and barbecue facilities, Nar river b&b can be found in Kings Lynn, close to Castle Acre Castle and 18 km from Houghton Hall.

Clean, comfortable, spacious and well located. I had a whole section of the house to myself with two bedrooms and a lovely bathroom. All was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed. Lovely garden and river views. It worked out a little on the expensive side for me as a solo traveller but would be amazing value for a family. Self service continental breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and good quality.

We liked the open countryside around , the proximity to Holkham Hall and walks along the north Norfolk coast. We found a boat permanently moored which was a café in Wells-next-the-sea. They specialise in Dutch pancakes. We can also recommend the pubs - The Dabbling Duck (one needs to book) and the Bull in Litcham (good food and a quieter atmosphere).

Good Location to visit the coast. (30mins max.) Good access to main road . (Although at peak times turning in & out of the junction, is a bit tricky). Really friendly welcome , good breakfasts , bright a airy room. Local pub within walking distance. (Good basic pub grub).
