With no previous research of the area we fortuitously stumbled upon the gem of Walnut Tree VIlla. We knew we did not want to stay in Heraklion, but wanted to be close enough to visit the archaeological museum and Knossos. What a treat to experience the charming village of Archanes and the warm hospitality of Walnut Tree Villa. Perfect for two people or two couples. The home has two bedrooms, a bathroom for each bedroom, living room and kitchen. A large courtyard with private parking ties it together. We seemed to be the only non-locals in the neighborhood, so we always felt as though we were visiting someone’s home. Antonis went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. From meeting us as the airport and guiding us back to offering raki and dinner our first night to having a generously stocked refrigerator and linen closet to having taxi recommendations ready. The little things make the difference and we were happy to have this be our first experience in Crete.
