The pool looked clean but we didn't use it. The breakfast was good - lots of fruits, eggs, sausages + Asian options. The room was huge , clean and comfy, lots of electrical outlets to plug in our chargers. Easy walk to Borobudur and restaurants. Grab drivers knew where it was located. The lounge area near the pool was nice. We thought we were the only Western tourists staying at the hotel when we were there. The staff was superb and very accommodating.

Great location amongst padi fields. Walkable to the bus station. Minimart a few minutes away. Lots of eateries around. A short stroll to Borobudur Temple. Simple good size room and toilet with strong aircon. Dated TV set with only Indonesian channels. Honestly cannot expect too much for the price I paid. Simple breakfast provided. Tours to Selo griyo and the villages are great, thanks to Nuri and Singga (I think that is his name.) Staff is very polite and friendly.
My room is on the side of the main road. Traffic noise can be loud. For light sleeper, pls pay more for quieter rooms at the back facing the padi fields.

On average, it costs $50 per night to book a 3-star hotel in Borobudur for tonight. You'll pay around $13 if you choose to stay in a 4-star hotel tonight, while a 5-star hotel in Borobudur will cost around $993, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Why did I wait so long to visit? A true surprise. Not as tourist-geared as Ubud/Bali. Authentic, catering to local domestic travellers, yet with a world class heritage attraction. Friendly locals, though the touts selling souvenirs did get annoying.

I returned to see Borobodur after 31 years.
I returned to see Borobodur after 31 years. It was as impressive as it was the last time. Everything around the temple is much better organized and channeled through the officials.
Still an amazing thing to do - I would recommend to read up on Borobodur before your visit to better understand all the stories behind it and its place in the Javanese and South East Asian history.

The information given by the guide is good and interesting, despite the fact that I am a Buddhist, there is much to learn from this trip. The thousand years old structure is just awesome but I must stress that anyone who wants to visit must do a little "home work" by reading up about Candi Borobudur , otherwise you might not catch some of the meaning behind the Candi and Buddhism. The Candi is fragile due to thousands of visitors and I urge everyone to visit with care and respect.

Borobudur temple is always so grand to look at and enjoyable in early morning or late afternoon. The history within the walls are just mesmerizing to look at.
After 9 am until around 3pm and on clear day, the sun gets too hot.
Having hats or umbrellas and plenty of water and sunscreen might help. But they won't stop the swarming sellers, before the entrance and after the exit, coming at you. So just be firm and polite and keep on walking if you do not want to buy anything from them. But if you do want to buy some souvenirs, you could bargain to a reasonable price.
I suggest to have a walk to the entrance stairs of the temple and don't forget to wear your comfortable walking shoes too.
This time around we took delman or horse carriage for around 5 minutes ride (less than 10 mins ride for sure) to the entrance stairs of the temple and, if not wrong, it cost around AUD20.
They also provide other services like train cars for a fee (can't remember how much), but I think it is better to hire them when you finished touring the temple and when your legs are too tired or when it's just too hot. Unless you want to explore the other facilities around (on the way to the exit) like checking out their museums and theatre.
You are not allowed to bring food or snacks into the temple complex (water is allowed). They will keep them for you to collect at the exit. So make sure you have enough food before going in.
We've never been to their restaurant/hotel in the complex, because there are plenty of choices of food just outside the complex.
For getting around outside the complex, in general, there are too many cars and motorbikes around the area, so you may want to keep walking on whatever pedestrian path available.
Cash is still preferable in the food chains and stalls outside the temple complex

Ofcourse its one of the things to see when your travels take you close to it. But it is a tourist trap. You can go in from 8.00 in the morning (not earlier anymore, like before you could go for sunrise, that is not possible anymore). You have to take a guided tour if you want to go up. The guide tells a lot about the history and is well trained. The costs are 500.000 rupiah pp. if you only walk around at the bottom it’s 350.000 rupiah. Before you leave the park you are guided through a fairly large market with touristy souvenirs.

The temple of Borobudur needs no review, it stands on his own.
New visiting rules (on 11/04/2023). Closed on monday. Reception opens on 06.30, but only for the parc. At 08.00 you can buy a ticket to go on the temple, and waiting till 09.00. Then they formed little groups of 15-20 people to go on the temple with a guide ! Visit lasts about one hour.
The whole resort is excellent, catering for a small number of guests in highly luxurious villas.
The resort has very friendly staff members throughout but I want to give special recognition to the whole team in the Patio restaurant, both the experienced staff members and those in training who provided excellent service: professional, warm and responsive to our requests.
Also special credit to the cleaning and ground staff who keep the rooms and the outside spaces immaculate.
Highly recommended.
Nice traditional looking villa w. all the modern comforts. A bathroom the size of your average hotel room. 3 x 7 m private pool on a immaculately gardened yard walled in from three sides and with a great view of the Menorah hills over the pool resulting in complete privacy.
All the staff was extremely attentive and the service impeccable. The Patio restaurant is great and has a great view of the Borobudur temple as do some of the villas. Also, from a western point of view great value for money.
This place is magic. Bhumi Kasuryan hotel is perfect. Location was super close to the Borobudur temple - so you can even see it from the kitchen table. The room was spacious and authentic with very artistic vibe. Amazing sleep. Very good shower. Delicious home made breakfast of your choice. We literary felt like we were staying at home. Highly recommend to everyone who want to explore and experience the beauty of the rural life and majesty of the temple and the sunrise.
the location was tucked away in beautiful grounds with incredible views to volcanos and Borobudur. it was a very peaceful setting and a small resort. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The Javanese furniture was stunning and loved the artwork. our villa had its own pool with amazing views out. it felt very private but we could call staff whenever we needed something. afternoon tea was such a treat. the food was very good and prices reasonable
The pool looked clean but we didn't use it. The breakfast was good - lots of fruits, eggs, sausages + Asian options. I love the world Rumah Dharma created in a way that satisfied my imagination about a hotel located in the countryside, surrounded by good view, good people and most importantly, good fantasy that grew bit by bit sice you checked in...The staff are professionally friendly, unintrudingly warm. And the owner, drove us to the bus station, showing good knowledge about history. I love Indonesia. Hope China and Indonesia have a brighter future!
The small hotel is only 1km from Borubudur, and situated among paddy field in the village. It is tranquil if the rooms are situated on the inner side. The owner, Mr. Nuri, is very friendly and responsive, and he works also as our guides to biking the village and to the sunrise spot. He seems to know everyone in the villages and friends with everyone, which makes us feel like part of the family. Breakfast is exceptionally tasty!
This is one of the best place I have ever stayed. The location is great for those who are looking for a getaway place. It is quiet at night. I would recommend you to have your own transportation to help you to get to places because it is a little remote. You can see Borobudur Temple from the terrace. The misty morning view is magical. The breakfast is great with local snacks also served as sides. Kudos!
We enjoyed our stay at Griyo Jagalan.
The accommodation offers good connection of wifi, clean room, good shower with hot water, comfortable bed, air conditioner, close by Borobudur temple that can be reached by foot and good value for money.
The host is really friendly and helpful. I highly recommended this place to anyone & I certainly will return to this place on my next visit to Borobudur.
Magic place surrounded by nature and rice fields, the best solution for visit Borobudur temple and take a break from the caos of the city.
Beautiful swimming pool and Javanese bungalows, Bobby is so funny and do his best to make you feel relaxed and at home.
Breakfast super and tour organized by Bobby among rice fields with local people was the best experience we had!
Its location was quite separated from the settlement, therefore it was so calm and comfortable to stay. However, it is not far from the Borobudur temple. The garden is beautiful, the pool is also nice. The water is clear. The staffs prepared delicious snacks and meal for breakfast, and we can use the bicycle which are prepared in front of every room for free.
Everything. We were the only guests in the hotel and we felt like kings. The staff was extra attentive, the food was great, we had the best massage during our trip here. The owners gave us a tour of the new buildings that were being built as we stayed there. The manager, Kiki really went the extra mile.
It is a nice and pleasant first time experience.
As the cozy room, nice breakfast and close to the Borobudur Temple, it is very recommended place to stay with.
Upon check out, they let us park our car in the hotel and free us from trouble parking in the Temple.
Plataran Heritage Borobudur is a modern place to stay with traditional touch.
We so much enjoyed the 1 hour morning walk around Karangrejo village with guide (Mas Prayogo) arranged by Plataran.
Very nice and kind staff, we even get our breakfast at 11 am after visiting Borobudur....
Perfect location near the temple.
And the swimming pool after the visit in the hot sun .....super.
