We booked a two bedroom apartment and it was great value for money for the space you get. We had a balcony facing the park, which was a nice surprise. The rooms were spacious and each had a bathroom. There was a kitchen with a fridge, microwave, kettle and some cutlery.

It's a pretty town and at one end of a walking/cycling Greenway with Athlone at the other end (about 46kms). I could definitely see taking my bike on the train from home to Athlone, biking the Greenway, taking a day or two to visit Mullingar, then the return trip to Athlone and home.

Mullingar is a very lively & musical town - always musical events going on. I was meeting an old friend for carvery lunch in Bloomfield. Although we dined at 12.15, the food was only warm, not hot! Dining situation was in the bar/lounge with beautiful view of lake & very comfortable seating. Serving staff extremely pleasant. Mullingar is very easy to get around - fairly compact, but own car necessary. Plenty of parking available. Next time I would demand to view my room before payment to make certain that I was not dumped in a childrens' room! There are other hotels.

Breakfast was fantastic. It had a broad range of different foods from pastries, continental breakfast, cereals and traditional Irish breakfast. Rooms were excellent and comfortable. We had an apartment with 2 room, 1 En-suite, a living room and kitchenette with all cooking utensils available. We ate in the hotel restaurant, The Old House Restaurant and it had a excellent seasonal menu that catered for all our needs. Shout out to the Restaurant Manager Pat Byrne who looked after all our needs for the weekend; Breakfast, Dinner and Tea!
