neral is the base station for MATHERAN-
neral is the base station for MATHERAN- MATHERAN is a hill station and enjoyable to view the mountain peaks and velleys on horse ride for about two-three hours through dense jungles. children age limit is about eight years. kids have nothing to enjoy here except at very high standard MTDC hotel. it is not an amusement park. one can travel to neral from CST-mumbai on CST-KARJAT suburban trains. travel time is about one and half hour. take taxi from neral to matheran for about Rs. 400/- travel time is just 25 minutes. alternative is 'TOYTRAIN' from neral to matheran but seats are very limited and one has to queue up for at least two-three hours before train time. besides only three-four runs per day only are available. but if possible 'toytrain ride' is highly advisable as travel time is almost three hours during which you enjoy the mountain fully.1)reach matheran 2) search accomodation 3) hire horse ride for enjoying SUNSET POINT 4) enjoy night 5) hire horse ride for 'SUNRISE POINT' and other selected points 6) come back to neral 7) come back to mumbai.
