Right on the shore of Lake Como, opposite Urio Pier, Hotel Orso Bruno is a 20-minute drive from Como. Rooms are simply furnished and some overlook either the mountains or the lake.

Orso Bruno is a small establishment so our rooms were on separate floors but easy to get to. This was just a stopover to break up a long drive home (with 2 kids in the car) so it fit the bill. The view of Lake Como was accessible to us (just across the road) and it was beautiful. You could catch a ferry ride from right next door! We weren't able to enjoy their restaurant as it was closed that day. Good parking that could accommodate our large car (with reservation in advance).

Very friendly and helpful staff.
The room offered was a very good value
The roof top bar was nice and pleasant, but not well utilized.
The breakfast was adequate but not outstanding. Too much effort in terms of number of cakes which isn't my idea of a breakfast.

People need to be aware of the complicated mode of transport...
People need to be aware of the complicated mode of transport to arrive from the airport to the hotel unless you hire a car or get a taxi which is 175 euros each way. Airport shuttle bus which only leaves 1 per hour and takes 25-30 minutes to get to Milan central station. Then a train to Como San Giovanni train station which takes 40 minutes and leaves every hour. Then either a bus which takes 30-40 minutes depending on traffic and departures are sporadic or the ferry which is a good 15-20 minute walk from the station and takes 44 minutes but those departures are not frequent in any way shape or form. We arrived Milan Linate at 1pm and arrived at the hotel past 5pm

Carate Urio is not very walkable. The street is narrow and very busy. There are limited transit options, with the city bus and boat taxi running at long intervals. Taxis are not easy to obtain due to local ordinances. However, there are a handful of restaurants nearby that are very nice, and the people were all very friendly and helpful.

Fabulous location with wonderful scenery. Easy to get around Lake Como by ferry boat service but be prepared to do a lot of walking to get to restaurants if you don't have a car. Take your camera everywhere - there are fabulous views around every corner!ChristineUnited Kingdom

This also means that the hotel has lakefront views from some of the rooms and the dining area. The rooms were very spacious and modern, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They always answered our questions and for breakfast even remembered our favorites. This was the best hotel my wife and I stayed at during our two-week trip through Italy.
