Medieval town with endless narrow alleys opening into scenic squares. A place for architecture lovers and those enjoying art of the period. Galleria del Accademia, Uffizi Gallery, Priti Palace and Bodoni Gardens charge to enter but offer much to see inside. The cathedral is free but allow for a 45 minute queue. It is surprisingly bland inside apart from the ceiling above the crossing. Plenty of restaurants and hand bag shops throughout the city. Mercato Centrale full of restaurants of all tastes open till midnight provides good value. Streets in April already congested with tourists. Bizarrely, no restrictions on traffic ploughing through the crowds literally nudging them aside. So not a place to relax. Be prepared for an exhausting struggle.

Florence is a magical city.
Florence is a magical city. The churches with amazing art works were wonderful. The museum of the Duomo was awesome. Michelangelo's last unfinished work is there, so moving. Book as early as possible for the Uffizi otherwise your visit will be spoilt with too many people and guided tours hogging the pictures. Look out for quirky items, like the wine windows in the walls. Florence is best appreciated if you do your research about it before you go. It's a fabulous city and the people are lovely.

Be sure to spend enough time. 1 or 2 days will not be enough for most people. This was a second trip for my daughter, and the fourth trip for me, We spent a full week and it felt perfect. Get reservations for Ufizzi and for David at the Academia in advance. If you are climbing the Duomo you might want reservations too, or plan on getting in line early and enjoy people watching while you wait. So many things to see! The food is spectacular. Take a cooking class. We reserved a high end dinner in advance too. Even if you don't usually eat meat, the Florentine steak is magical. One steak for 2 people.
I feel sorry for the cruise ship people. They have a long commute and only part of a day.
Summer is crowded and hot. Come spring or fall if you can.
First and last: be sure to spend enough time.

Florence is a the cultural center for the arts mainly the Renaissance so the museums, along with Duomo are a major draw for tourists. Florence is a very walkable city so bring some good walking shoes! You will need to order some "timed" tickets in advance especially for the Uffizi Museum and the Academia Museum. You will also need to secure a time in advance to climb up to the top of the Duomo dome. There are several ticket packages you can get that will include all the museums BUT read the details carefully! I used the Firenze Card for the museums and the Brunelleschi pass for the Duomo. This will save you some money BUT you will need to plan a strategy in advance...Florence can get very crowded! Out side of Florence I took 3 bus/train one day excursions, 2 different Tuscany region tours and one to Cinque Terra . lots of fun but once again read the details.

I was amazed at the cleanliness of the city considering the number of visitors each day the attractions were well kept and maintained, the historical sights were easy to find and explore. each corner had new surprises and things to explore. so much to do and see at every turn. would recommend a minimum of 3-4 full days to truly see half of what Florence has to offer.
The hotel is very nice and cozy, the staff super helpful and attentive. Everybody helped us with all our requests. Even we were advised and helped on where to get a Covid test, now that is required in Italy and it’s difficult to get one on time. The location is just a 10-15 min walk to the city center and next to San Lorenzo neighborhood, very lively at night, but the hotel is in a quiet street. The breakfast is fantastic, very complete. We’ll definitely come back here when we are back to Florence.
The hotel's location was perfect for us to enjoy the city. Our room was small, but that was expected. I think paying a little extra to have a room with a view facing the church was worth it. All of the staff were kind. Breakfast was a bit pricier compared to what we paid at other places, but it was good. We visited three other cities after leaving Florence, and this hotel turned out to be the best and our favorite during our trip to Italy!
This is a hidden gem in the hills of Florence, just 15 minutes drive from the city center. Martina and her husband are perfect hosts, gave us the best tips for restaurants (Zocchi) and ice cream (Badiani). The apartment was spacious, well-equipped, and our terrace let no wish unanswered: full view of the Hills of Tuscanny right in front of our eyes. The pool is amazing. We are often in Italy but this was clearly one of the best experiences.
Out of the 3 lodgings in Italy I have stayed so far, I like this the best. It's small but it has everything and feels the most like a regular hotel. Very clean and modern. The room we booked has a bunk bed for kids so it served our purpose well to fit the family. It's also in a slightly more quiet environment so not as much road noise. We can put our luggage outside the room in the common area after checkout which was quite helpful.
This was our first stop in Italy for two nights as we were going to Bologna on June 13. This was the first hotel room we have stayed in that had a chandelier. The staff welcomed us even though we got there at almost midnight. The breakfast was good with basic cereals, yogurt, great coffee, croissants and other pastries, cheese and ham. We came back to Hotel Martelli on June 21 after our stay in Bologna.
We spent a very comfortable night in a very nice hotel in Florence, the 2nd stop of our Italy trip starting from Rome. Many thanks to Ameli, the lady who welcomed us very nicely at the front desk for check-in, many thanks to Kardeşim 😀 Luca for his nice welcome and interest at breakfast. We hope to come back to Florence and Adler Cavalieri Hotel-Private Spa & Gym at the first opportunity.
One of our best stay in Italy. The hotel is just about 300m away from Santa Novella Maria train station and it was very convenient for us to move around from Florence to other nearby towns. It was also in a very central location which was close to Duomo. The breakfast spread was great. There is a small terrace at the top floor where we can experience the city view. Amazing!
Direct walk from the train station. Easy to find. Direct line to Ponte Vecchio, Academia, and Uffizi. Easy walk to Santa Croce. Louise is an amazing person who knows Florence and other parts of Italy and is always ready to answer questions and give you the best suggestions. This is a place I recommend to my friends and family. This hotel is the only one I choose now.
the hotel is really very good. room clean, even bed and towel was changed daily. very close to the center of Florence on foot. nice staff. The croissants and sweet snacks for breakfast were the best of any hotel I've been to in Italy. The air conditioning in the room is noisy but works. There was plenty of space in the gated parking lot.
It was the best hotel my husband and I stayed during our 15 day trip to Italy. The staff at front desk and breakfast were very nice, helpful and polite. Also the staff at breakfast. The room was big, very clean, with nice sheets. Spa was great. Wifi worked very well. Location is also great, short walk to Arno River and sightseeings.
every thing its really exceptional best hotel in whole italy not only in Florence so style so modern so big apartment many space perfect location few walk on the river to the center so you can discover the city from out side to inside
the staff both of them so professional very very helpful
Giada was a wonderful host! My husband and I stayed at the Fiordaliso Boutique Apartments for the first portion of our trip to Italy and truly enjoyed the venue while we were in Florence. The accommodations were wonderful and the apartments were very clean and kept up!
This hotel was one of my favorites that I have ever stayed! Beautiful gardens, excellent food, wonderful and friendly staff. The entire experience was a charming stay just outside a beautiful city. We plan to revisit this hotel for sure when we are back in Italy.
The complete location of the hotel is wonderful. The Staff, Breakfast, and Room everything were above the expectations. I would recommend this hotel to other people if they are visiting Florence, Italy for a Business trip or a Vacation.
A real gem of a hotel— wonderful service, great rooms and a yummy breakfast and happy hour. We felt like we were visiting friends! We will be back to Italy and Hotel David us on our “don’t miss” list.
Good staff and great location with a reasonable price. Also, the cleanness of the hotel in general. I stayed in four different hotels in Italy and yet this is the best one among the ones I tried.
Nice hotel, nice staff. Very close to city center - 7 minute by walking. Everything's clean and rooms are comfy. Everywhere is air conditioner, which is important for Italy.
One of the best accommodation I had in Italy, wonderful house with Garden, well located and very cosy. I highly recommend for travelers going to Florence
