Was not expecting that hotel is so close to the beach. Also, we had a fantastic terrace, so entire family enjoyed it, especially our dog :)

My initial review was mistakenly for a previous B.Com property in Rumaggiore. Apologies. Staying in too many B.Coms ! All in a sequence.
La Calata was the best we stayed in all trip. Really excellent. Friendly caring host. Met us in the street to help get the right door. Fantastic place. Lovely views. We’d stay again - any day. The facilities and comfort couldn’t be beaten.

It's in a beautiful setting but, to visit Cinque Terre, you'd be better off somewhere like Levanto or in one of the villages inland, which are very quiet but lovely (and a quarter of the cost!) Even in late September and some awful weather, Porto Venere is packed with tourists and people from cruise ships so it's harder to enjoy it.

The Grand Hotel did not disappoint.
The Grand Hotel did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in you feel genuinely welcomed, wonderful staff, nothing is ever a problem. The view from our room was delightful, looking across the water to the beautiful old buildings of Portovenere. The breakfast was incredible, so many choices. The terrace was a lovely area to spend time for a drink as you take in some sun and the view or for dinner under the stars. We stayed 4 days and I was not ready to leave, highly recommend.

This is my favourite new region in Italy!!
This is my favourite new region in Italy!! Captivating views around each corner of the coastline, breathtaking rock formations and boats zooming to and from. Soothing to sit amongst the coastal life. The villages felt very authentic and less touristic than other places that are this beautiful. Can’t wait to go back :)

Good base for visiting the Cinque Terre by boat.
Good base for visiting the Cinque Terre by boat. Day ticket for Euro 37 to see and visit four of the five. Public beach a few mins walk from the apartment was great. Many restaurants nearby although not impressed with a few, La chiglia, il Timone, rubbish!
We arrived lunchtime on Saturday and spent hours in traffic queues trying to find parking. Davide was really helpful when we asked for help, very thankful to him.
The location is within the walls of the old city. This means that there are many steps to go up to the hotel. We lobed the idea of being within the walls. The people there were extremely helpful, coming to get us from the taxi with an electric wagon to take our luggage, (to and from the room). They gave us good tips for restaurants and overall made us feel very welcome. The room was nice, without a window with a view, but who cares when you go out of the room early in the morning and come back late at night.
The place was so lovely and clean! Beppe and Rosella were gracious hosts and provided an excellent stay. Beppe met us and got us settled, while also offering dinner recommendations and a bottle of Prosecco! Rosella made us espresso in the morning and held our bags while we went into town for breakfast and more exploring. The apartment was about the size of a large hotel room (with a much more personal feel) and fit my husband and I plus our two teenaged daughters. The view was stunning!
The location and its surroundings are perfect: for relaxation, hiking, gastronomy and attractions. Although Porto Venere is not part of the five small villages of the famous Cinque Terre, it is located nearby and boasts an equally stunning coastal environment. Porto Venere is a real gem on the Ligurian coast, and an ideal location for those interested in history, culture and stunning coastal scenery.
Maison Violet is a wonderful accommodation to stay in. Out of our many holidays, this is one of our favourite places. It is quiet and peaceful with stunning views of Portovenere and the Mediterranean sea. Portovenere is a beautiful, calm and interesting town to visit. I would highly recommend staying in Portovenere and specifically Maison Violet.
Outstanding location and view from a stylish terrace. The owner was nice and helpful. She navigated us from the street to a private garage (which was great as all the parking spots in Portovenere are hopelessly taken). The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is equiped with basic supplies (tea, coffee, oil, salt etc.)
property is perfectly located close to the harbor and was walking distance from the ferry. I requested a room with a balcony and the hotel confirmed my request. the view was amazing. the room was quite small but functional.
overall highly recommended.
Portovenere is a great location to visit the Cinque Terre. The house was clean and our host was very proactive in communication. In our opinion a nice place to stay with wonderful views. The private parking was a real bonus.
View was beautiful but it was from the balcony off the bathroom. Nice staff. Enough space for 2. Breakfast quantities were very large. When booking, ask about balcony location as some are not off the room directly.
The hotel, the staff, the area and the food were all excellent.
There is nothing to complain about.
We only stayed for two nights but if we are going to stop again, we would have no problem staying longer.
Really friendly and super-helpful staff. Nice location if visiting Portovenere, great parking and a really nice restaurant in the small town. Good (if very noisy) fridge that worked well.
Such a cute place to stay in the middle of Portovenere! Great views from the terrace and a lovely breakfast included :) the room was clean and had everything we needed
Nice room, very well furnished, very well cleaned, comfortable beds. Excellent location (just a few stairs downside from Portovenere main road) with sea view.
