Arrived later, but Melania still made sure we were greeted, able to have a glass of wine, and get set up in our room. Their recommendation of the wine bar in Presa is amazing for a quick evening bite and glass - I had a glass while waiting for tapas takeout and taking back to enjoy the sunset w spouse from the terrace outside the room. Breakfast, which was ample w cheese and meat cuts, juices, etc, could be eaten in the main building or a plate prepared to go to the room and enjoy on the terrace. Milk in the room would be nice to go with the coffee pods prior to breakfast, but of course not required. The amenities for cooking were limited but had everything we needed, and the place was super clean. The extra quilts with super thick and helpful with the cooler weather.

It is absolutely lovely. Small hilltop town for full experience of cozy Sicilian life. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable. The owners are wonderful and I wish them the best.

Room was large and clean. There was plenty of parking. Breakfast was very nice. A/C and WiFi worked well.

A very nice hotel just off a main road in Giarre. I was visiting cousins in the area and this hotel was very convenient for them to meet me. A very beautiful restoration of an old farmhouse. Great views of Etna in the distance. The grounds are very park-like and there is plenty of free parking. The dinner restaurant on the hotel property was great. Although there was an additional charge, breakfast was very good and well worth it.

The Shalai is set in the historic center of Linguaglossa, a nice Sicilian village within easy reach of Catania and Mount Etna. Rooms here offer soft colors, warm lights and natural textiles.
