Unfortunately as the hotel owner explained to us, the Italian thermal towns suffered badly during the pandemic when being in close contact was forbidden, this has left its mark, with many large buildings closed and others looking tatty. There are still individual shops trading here, and some restuarants opening, but you can see they are not finding it easy. Also Italy, unlike France or Spain, does not seem to promote rural tourism in the same way, but it needs to reinvent itself now that the situation has changed.PhilipUnited Kingdom - 4.0Scored 4.0

I love Salsomaggiore.
I love Salsomaggiore. This is my third visit and discovered the great Lido. The Therme itself is amazing and sad that it was closed as I have not yet been inside. Clearly a must in future. The park is delightful and shady and the restaurants friendly.

Small, cosy town in a nice landscape, a good place for a relaxing holiday. Thermal baths have excellent offers. My favourite restaurant is Osteria Bottega Parmamenu: all dishes are authentical and simply delicious.

The breakfast selection was excellent with delicious pastries and cakes, fruit, cheeses and meats, yoghurt, cereal etc. We had two dinners at the hotel which were fabulous. Only sad thing, the pool was closed when we were there late september, but as it was so unseasonally warm, we would loved to have been able to use it. A perfect place to rest and recuperate - comfortable, glamorous building and the staff were all very welcoming, charming and helpful. The location in the centre means you can just stroll out into the pretty streets nearby. They arranged airport transfer taxi for several of us back to Milan.
