I loved how close this hotel is from the Varenna train as well as the ferry to get from town to town. The food and shops are a short walk down the sidewalk so it was overall a great location. Staff was very friendly and there was free breakfast!

The owners and employees are A+. Our 2-story, 1-bedroom apartment was clean and comfortable. (Bedroom and bathroom were downstairs.) Apartment, bed, linens and temperature were very comfortable. Couch and high-back chair seem old and could use an updating soon. Happy to have a kitchen and a kitchen table and chairs. We paid €12 for a small bottle of wine offered in the apartment. Nice breakfast included in our stay. We loved our time in Varenna and ferrying over to Bellagio. Thank you, Albergo Milano!!!

We knew we were going off season (the hotel has only opened the week we visited in the 2nd week of March) Varenna is a pretty village with breathtakingly beautiful views. But off season there was nowhere open to get a drink or food after 9pm!

Easy walk about town.
Easy walk about town. Wear good walking shoes steps are steep and not always a handrail. Beautiful gardens and scenery. Easy hop on a ferry to go to the other towns. Hike up to the castle is 30 min. I would have felt more comfortable with a walking stick. Make sure to have water.

Picturesque and just charming. Loved the waterfront, walking on the bridge, flowers, vibe and restaurants on the water. Ferry efficient and pleasant, easy to access other towns. Loved Varenna. So beautiful, straight out of a movie scene. Do a wine tasting, there are many options there. There is a lot of uneven cobblestones and a million stone stairs. Have sturdy shoes with grip. You walk everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend for someone who is unsteady, walks with a cane, has bad knees. I saw people with baby strollers, but I wouldn’t recommend it, seemed awful with all of the stairs. Not a kid friendly location. Food was fantastic…eat all the bread, it’s not like in the US. Take a cooking class. Take the ferry to Bellano and visit Orrido di Bellano. Next time, I would not bother with Bellagio visit. I would’ve liked the boat ride on the lake and botanical gardens…next time.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Lots of options throughout the area - not just Varenna. So why Varenna?Easy access via train without needing more hops to get somewhere else. Probably more things in other villages if you're looking for a party scene. We tend to stay out later than some and we found enough places to seek out in our three nights. This may have included buying a bottle of wine and enjoying it out on the balcony, but still. Just liked the vibe as subjective as that is. Special shout outs to Hotel Olivedo, Locanda del Cavallino, Taxi Boat Varenna and Osteria Quatro Pass.StephenUnited States of America

We love Varenna more. The hotel location is great, close (5 min walk) to the train if you are traveling by train, close ( 5 minute walk) to the ferries if you want to use the ferries, close to the start of one of the trails to the castle (2 min walk), and a short walk from everything else. The place was very clean and well kept. Just a 15 minute walk to Varenna restaurants and ferry. Great location!! Francesca was extremely helpful and picked us up from the train station. She gave us great recommendations and suggestions during our stay. It was our first visit to the area so her guidance was very much appreciated!! We also appreciated her checking in from time to time to make sure we were ok and comfortable.

Giulia the host was very helpful, I was unwell during my stay and she fetched me pain killers. The rooms are cosy, wonderful comfy bed and spacious bathroom and great shower. The views from the balcony in the common area are gorgeous and where breakfast is served from - a wonderful stay and location for exploring Lake Como!
