The owner is very friendly and kind. She picked us up in Koyasan. Foods are good and the house is very quiet. Perfect place for hikers after finishing Kohechi route.

we needed a place to stay while visiting Koyasan, and we didn't want the austere accommodations at the town. Hashimoto is a compromise location, the only town within reasonable distance to Koyasan. Hashimoto is a sleepy little town, with little offerings for even dining. But, it is the only game available if you want to reach Koyasan within an hour. The hosts really tried hard to run things well, and the facility met our need. It was clean and well kept. No dining facilities unless you order meals at time of booking. Local restaurants are, shall we say, basic. People are nice, though.

This was an exceptional property in every way. Though the rooms are European style, the singular cabins, the passage ways, the main building, all have a very Japanese architectural feel. This is located about 20km from Koyasan, and sits among rice paddies just a bike ride from a local shrine. It gives you the chance to glide along on deserted roads and happen upon a major pilgramage shrine along the Kumano Kodo. The Kaiseki meal was superb, with about 10 courses of sublime cooking and service of the highest order. The staff may have been a little nervous as we don't speak Japanese, but they fared well. The presentation was, as is the Japanese way, giving a nod to the autumn season with fall flowers and leaves presenting the food as art. The Onsen were private so that couples can enjoy with eachother, three possibilities were available, with small gardens outside each. Our suite also had a huge round tub to enjoy as well. The bathroom was of exceptional design. We had a hedge of blooming flowers outside the porch doors where beautiful and unusual butterflies were feeding.
Newly opening in March 2014, Hotel Route Inn Hashimoto offers free Wi-Fi throughout the property, and is located a 6-minute drive from JR Hashimoto Train Station.
