Very clean and new appearance. The house looks like it was finished last week. Western visitors should note that the interior is very minimalist. Only a low table and futon to roll out on the floor of the guest room. This is not a flaw, as it is designed to be in the traditional Minshuku style. Just something to be aware of. A few minutes walk from the beach. Sleepy little town. A nice break from the crowds of Kyoto.

The jacuzzi in the room was great. The sunset view was beautiful.

Koda san and her family made our stay at the ryokan memorable! The meals prepared for us were beautifully prepared and delicious - the traditional breakfast we had in the morning was my absolute favorite of our entire trip in Japan. We liked how friendly and accommodating Koda-san was to us, while allowing lots of privacy during our stay. The family went out of their way to help us when we were having trouble reaching the originally planned train station where they would pick us up to take us to Nantan. We were incredibly grateful that they told us they would come all the way to the train station where we were so that it was easier for our family. We would recommend Ryokan Kigusuriya for the wonderful experience and especially for those who are looking for the real Ryokan experience outside of the city in a more rural country setting. It made our trip to Japan memorable and special.
