The home was beautiful and comfortable. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. The hosts were helpful, friendly and kind. Everything we needed was provided. We were picked up at the train station and were able to pick up supplies on the way to the home. We had a very relaxing stay even though it rained the entire time. The host took us site seeing on the way back to the station and shared knowledge about the area and history. We had a fun time!

Perfect location, traditional machiya house in a quiet street. The bathroom area is outside but it was not inconvenient. The host was very flexible with the check in time and promptly responded to all my questions.
There are plenty of great places to visit here. The ruins and shrine at the top of Hachiman mountain (Hachimanyama) is well worth visiting, a trip on the canal is pleasant and the tile museum is much better than you would expect. If you want to be organised, I recommend that you make a reservation for lunch and/or dinner. Their specialty is beef but the fresh food is excellent as much of it is locally grown so it's super fresh and delicious.

Very nice house with comfortable rooms and a common living room area with a kitchen. Also, a nice backyard where you can have a barbecue! Walking distance to the touristic spots on the Omihachiman city and a short drive to the Lake Biwa.

The old part of Omihachiman at the base of Mt.
The old part of Omihachiman at the base of Mt. Hachiman is an Edo period merchant town. The merchants built beautiful houses with pine trees in inner gardens. The town retains the atmosphere of old Japan, but there are some good places to eat.

Really close to beautiful Lake Biwa.
Really close to beautiful Lake Biwa. Our favorite spot was walking along Hachiman-Bori. Its a beatiful traditional area of the town and really shows traditional Japan houses and bridges. There is a temple or shrine nearby too but we didnt make it there. We ate at the Rabbit Hutch and it was great! Its a nice craft beer bar with good pub food that is owned by an Australian-Japanese couple.
