The house is beautiful and the staff is amazing! The dormitory was very comfortable, everything was clean. The owner and his son (I guess) were very kind and helpful, gave a lot of info on the area and a a map full of recommandations for restaurants and onsens. They even lent me a bicycle to visit Ōno.

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly people. When you go climbing to the castle, people say hi as they walk by (which is pretty rare in Japan in my opinion). When you go visit the morning market, the obachan starts to chat with you about their lives and families.
The water in Ono is one of the best in Japan. Therefore everything I tried has been super tasty (soba, soy katsudon, sake, wine, dango, coffee, rice...literaily everything.). If you are a foodie, I recommend to make it a two or three day trips at least cuz there's no way to try everything in a day😆
