Hotel Ichinose, hotel in Shiga Kogen

Located in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 3.1 mi from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Hotel Ichinose features ski-to-door access and a ski school.

Cozy hotel, right by the Ichinose Family ski area. The staff is absolutely amazing, 100% focus on making your stay pleasant. We went there for a ski trip and it was really convenient. The public bath is great for after skiing, and both dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with many good quality choices.

Very clean and spacious rooms. I really appreciate the pick up and drop off shuttle services from Iiyama and Yudanaka Stations. Great location next to Ryuoo Sky Park for skiing and snowboarding. Guests please message property if you would like to add dinner to your stay the night before check-in. The chefs need time to get groceries and prepare for dinner service (charged separately from room cost) They have one laundry machine for shared use.

Hotel Japan Shiga, hotel in Shiga Kogen

Located 5577 feet above sea level, Hotel Japan Shiga is located within Shiga Kogen in Joshinetsu Kogen National Park, 328 feet from Shiga Kogen Ski Resort’s Ichinose Family Ski Area where guests can...

We stayed in the caravan, which was a trailer home on the slope. We could almost ski directly from it. The place was well set up for people who want to make their own food, of which we brought a lot. It had a big refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. We ate on the floor from the coffee table, but there was a sofa that you could also eat on. The trailer had its own internet router which worked very well for streaming Netflix; something not typical for Japanese ski resorts. The hot water heater worked very well as well, meaning nice hot showers. The room had a small bath but there was a small but clean indoor hot tub at the hotel that is free to use. The place is very close to the Ichinose bus stop. You can take the bus for free to any Shiga Kogen area slope. But frankly it was not necessary as we were already right on the slope.

Breakfast was great with lots of options. The staff were so lovely and very willing to assist with rides to see the snow monkeys, as well as picking us up at the train station and dropping us at the bus stop for the ski bus. They also provided space in the lobby to store skis.

Wafu-no-Yado MASUYA, hotel in Shiga Kogen

On just a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Station, Wafu-no-Yado MASUYA features beautiful Japanese-style rooms, hot spring baths and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms boast a private outdoor hot spring bath.

We stayed at a regular room and a one with the private onsen. I recommend spluring for the private onsen. It's a night a day difference between the two. The regular room was still great tho. Very roomy by Janpanese standards.

Shiga Kogen is big ski area, with nice slopes and for one tickets you can move around and try out all the different slopes. However, in the evening it is really difficult to find food and as it is a typical Japanese area, no bars etc. Some of the hotels are really far from the villages. The hotels are old from the olympic time, so not much renewal.
