Pension Sea Friend, hotel in Tokashiki

Offering a barbecue and terrace, Pension Sea Friend is set in Tokashiki in the Okinawa Region, 21 mi from Naha. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.

All rooms are private at this pension. A stunning beach with an uninhabited Island is within a few minutes walking distance, excellent store close by, staff are friendly, free shuttle service that runs to the port, and back, just look for the blue see friend bus and get on it, it is always there after the ferry arrives the pension is old and charming, fridge and electric kettle are provided, kayak and gear hire are there, the pension is the only place on the island where I found I could hire a kayak as a solo traveler, the rest seemed to be tour only. Maybe there are other places as well. Overall a friendly pension on a friendly island

Kerama Terrace, hotel in Tokashiki

Located in Tokashiki, a 2-minute walk from Hijuishi Beach, Kerama Terrace provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking and a terrace.

We have been in Tokashiki island for 5 days, as part of our Asian trip. Our stay at Hotel Kerama Terrace was the best experience that could have happened to us. Comfortable room, exceptionally kind attitude, incredibly delicious food... The hosts offered us many activities, the beach near the hotel is the most beautiful and have the best reef for snorkeling. Breakfast was wonderful and dinner was a true gourmet experience worthy of a Michelin star. Thank you dear people! Thank you for the special treatment! Thank you for the unforgettable memory you left in us! We will for sure see each other again, despite the huge distance that separates us! Greetings from distant Bulgaria!

kamekamehouse, hotel in Tokashiki

Kamekamehouse offers accommodations in Tokashiki near Aharen Beach and Hijuishi Beach. This 2-star ryokan offers a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage space.

Staff is super friendly and accommodating. We are vegetarians and they were able to prepare breakfast and dinner without fish and meat for us! One staff speaks good english. There is free tea and coffee, and for breakfast and dinner you get all-you-can-eat rice. Location could be closer to the beach but everything is in walking distance. There lives a small pig on the roof which loves apples, carrots, and cucumbers 🐽❤️.

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands.

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands. There are some great spots for swimming, snorkeling, and diving from the shore, but a boat trip will be required for some of the other spots, particularly the northern portion of the island. The roads are narrow, but it's worth touring around the island on some of the back roads for the various views and wildlife.

The December water was warm enough to swim without wet suits, It was off season with few guests. They still made great buffet meals, and were very helpful. No nearby restaurants were open. I would go again and stay longer.

    Beaches are terrific.

Beaches are terrific. Go to Aharen Beach early in the morning or after 5 in the evening to avoid the lifeguard Stasi and all their restrictions. The water and coral and fish are terrific. Did a nighttime nature tour with a local guide (no link but his poster is up (in Japanese) at Marine Palace and the staff called him to arrange) that was unforgettable. Owls! A snake. So many crabs. Lizards and geckos. Enormous spiders. So cool. Overall the island has a very un-Japanese Margaritaville feel. The single restaurant in Aharen Beach, open only after 18:30, is excellent!

If you aren't planning on staying on Tokashiki, at least make the day trip to the island via the ferry. The water, beach coral, and fish are amazing to see. If your lucky enough plan 3 nights there. It is worth it.
