This was a wonderful stop during our hike of the Kumano Kodo. We especially enjoyed the private onsen the hotel has. The tatami room was spacious and comfortable and all of the shared shower and bathroom areas were very clean. We also enjoyed eating meals in the common area with other guests. They are also located close to a bus stop which made it easy to start our day
The hotel also provided a nice breakfast (congee) and bentos for lunch. All delivered promptly.

The hosts were extremely kind and helpful. They offer pickup from Hongu, making access to the property easy as well as drop off to the Onsen of your choice. The food was delicious. The room was simple but clean and spacious with beautiful views of the mountains, river and surrounding countryside. After a long day of hiking, it was amazing. Highly recommend.

The hotspring in Totsukawa is one of the best I have evers been to in Japan. They boast of no additions to the water and not even heating the water. Everything was very natural and comfortable. The scenery is very beautiful. The nearby Tamakijinja Shrine is very beautiful.
