Shinkaifujishoen, hotel in Yamanakako

Located in Yamanakako, 11 miles from Fuji-Q Highland, Shinkaifujishoen provides accommodations with free bikes, free private parking and a bar.

Very nice couple managing the hotel, with a lot to do in and around the hotel, and marvelous lake. Large room, with bathroom, and other shared Japanese baths (could not really use them, as arrived at 7 PM, and on busy week end, so we all occupied). The owner could pick us up at the local bus station, drive us back, and even drove us to nearby restaurant! So helpful. Have a few bicycles for cycling around the lake.

Hotel Mt. Fuji, hotel in Yamanakako

Hotel Mt. Fuji features a hot spring bath with views of Mount Fuji, a sauna and a karaoke room. It offers free Wi-Fi throughout, 3 dining options and a charged indoor pool.

The location and the view were awesome! This was a much better location than Fujikawaguchiko which was mobbed with tourists. This resort hotel was fairly secluded and the view from the room and particularly from the back lawn was best one could hope for. I would highly recommend staying at least one night here because that way you can see Fujisan both at sunset and sunrise. We got lucky because the sky was clear during our stay, thus we got spectacular views of this beautiful snow-covered mountain. The service was absolutely superb, and the restaurants were lovely too, including the French restaurant where we had dinner. They have a shuttle bus that will take from and back to bus stop # 138.

We did not have time to explore the town at all, but overall seemed like a beautiful place by the lake. Would highly recommend because I think this place is less mobbed by tourists that Fujikawaguchiko.

It was a nice place to stop for a few days before heading back to Tokyo. Great places to eat and beautiful walks around the lake. There is a bathhouse not to far from the hotel but they do not allow tattoos- no exceptions.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around. Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun! I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish. Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting! I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there. There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds and the skyline around the mountain were in a constant dance of change - breathtaking. The reflections of the sunset clouds on the lake were were dazzling. The freshness of the pristine air. The lack of high humidity. The sense of well-being offered by the area. The vehicles stopped at zebra crossings which isn't always the case in certain cities. Cons - At times we have to walk on the road within half a metre of passing vehicles. That could have possible unwanted outcomes.

    Yamanashi in general was gorgeous.

Yamanashi in general was gorgeous. We stayed at Yamanakako and it was a great place to stay at to get away from the stressful work environment in the city. We didn't get to eat at any local restaurants since we were too busy exploring the surrounding areas but you won't be left wanting for food options since everywhere you go, there's a restaurant nearby and they all looked so good. I think it would be more convenient if you travel around by car since the bus fare can get a little expensive if you're traveling far.

Friendly and bilingual hosts ! Fabiola was so warm and helpful. The accommodation was very spacious (even for 10 of us) with rustic but comfortable interiors. The fireplace kept us warm and we had a fun time doing the bbq on the terrace outside. We could hear deer outside and one of us spotted some deer as well. We could see the silhouette of Mt Fuji .. it would have been great if the weather was clear but we need to come back for that one. Overall a great place to escape from urban life.

Really a nice stay. When I got lost at night, the owner drived me to the hotel after a phone call, which helped me a lot. Also invited me to have dinner in the hall, where we had a nice chat together. The view from the room is indeed gorgeous. Perfect view of Mount Fuji. Since I told the owner my schedule, he cared about me so much, who even gave me a morning call in case I would miss the bus. So kind of him. The next day the owner also drived me to a place quite far. Such a nice guy.

I appreciate the warm hospitality from the staff, particularly Ms. Mitsuyo along with her another colleague, who assisted us with everything we needed. She provided helpful information about the surroundings, and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. The breathtaking view of Mount Fuji over Lake Yamanaka added to the overall experience. The property is serene, quiet, and peaceful—ideal for anyone looking to recharge during a few nights' stay.

I booked Hatago Tsubakiya for my parents' first trip to Mt. Fuji. The private hot spring, the free bike rental service and the Japanese-style room, they made our experience extraordinary! They absolutely loved their stay! The place is also easy to access, only 5mins walk to Yamanakako Lake. If you ever stay here, I recommend biking around Yamanakako Lake for a fantanstic view of Mt. Fuji.

This is a quiet and elegant hotel, It has a unique Japanese style, and the boss is kind and friendly. If time permits, a good soak in the bath can make the tiredness of the day disappear. Quite close to the lake, you can quickly see the beautiful and dreamy Mount Fuji. Looking forward to visiting again~

Amazing location and loved the cabin. Everything felt clean, modern and comfortable (especially the bed, we didn't sleep on the loft on the tatami though). Our cabin had a fantastic view of Mt Fuji which was amazing in the morning! Amenities etc were plenty and useful. Appreciated the stay!

The onsen was amazing. We also had a view on the Mont Fuji from our bedroom. Our room was little old - which makes sense as the hotel celebrated its 60 years anniversary. The hotel staff was so kind that it compensated our stay making it very enjoyable. We highly recommend the hotel.
