Prakash and other staff members were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They took care of us very well. What is even more impressive was the food made by Chef Prakash. We are originally from Sri Lanka, and we have had plenty of Sri Lankan food, including home cooked food. But the Rice and curries dinner we had here was unique and the best we ever had. We had a great mountain view from the room and balcony, and were able to enjoy the Sunrise directly from the room.

We had an excellent stay at Hill Safari. Hosts Eomal and his wife and staff Nuwan are very kind, friendly, and helpful. The location is an excellent place for Horton Plains and many other hiking trails. Also, the views around the property are excellent - tea plantations, farms, mountains, and long distance views as well. Eomal, who has lived there over 40 years, is very knowledgeable about the area and all the hiking opportunities. Home cooked dinner and lunch were very tasty. He arranged our travel logistics to the Horton Plains and to the Train station.

First of all, I want to say about the staff. Their humanity was at its best. Very friendly. I love that. We were treated better than we thought. The room also has a very clean bathroom with comfortable beds. The environment is very quiet. It's a very beautiful small village surrounded by a forest. The food is very tasty and refreshing . Hope to go there again . Much love that place .

A truly magical place, we had the most amazing stay.
A unique small boutique hotel up in the mountains with stunning views, wonderful staff and delicious food.
The manager, Eranda is so sincere and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. He took us on a walk to the waterfall in the grounds and we had a very informative talk about nature. Such a lovely man.
I can't recommend Capoe House enough, it's the nicest place we have ever stayed.

Almost everything. Location was close to Horton Plains and the owners arranged a tuk tuk ride for a nominal fee. Lovely surrounding. Food was tasty and ample given. Really worth it. Owners were friendly and made the guests feel at home.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go.
Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go. Horton Plains are absolutely gorgeous, but even the unusual forests around Ohiya, birds, other animals and all the plants (especially flowers and coniferous species) are worth to see. We loved the mysterious weather, hot mornings, misty afternoons or evenings, and beautiful nights with distant thunderstorms. This place is fabulous and we wish to come back again. Best restaurant for us was staying at Muthu Nisindi in Forest Cyniciam Holiday Bungalow. And her husband Mahinda took care of us with his tuk-tuk, being always on time, always prepared to stop to show us an an animal or answer question or wish. We definitely recommend animal watching around the village, walks in forest, eating all the food you can and going to Horton Plains at least for two days to hike through all the paths available, we managed to do just 2 hikes and will come back once to see the rest.PatrikCzech Republic - 10Scored 10

One can visit many other natural wonders from Ohiya including Bambara Kanda, Iddamalgasdeniya Railway Station. There are 14 railway tunnels between Ohiya and Iddamalhasdeniya railway stations. They prepared us tea all the time because it is very cold in Ohiya and it was great. We came late because we had problems with transfer, but they still prepared us a full and tasty dinner. We arranged transfer to Horton's Plains through the hosts and they prepared us breakfast for our morning ride. There was hot water but no heating. This is a great place to stay, just don't forget to bring warm clothing.

It really did feel like being welcomed in to a family home. Nothing was too much trouble as they were both incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts. The meals ( dinner and breakfast) were delicious. The rooms were cosy and warm at night despite being do high up in the mountains. A very convenient location for exploring the Horton Plains. Lovely to meet the cats and to see the flowers in the garden.

Food is amazing and they have also very good restaurant in the city (where the mama cooks). It is quit cold in the night compare to other places in Sri Lanka, but extra blankets were completely ok. We got unexpected ride from train station but it is easy to walk there as well. And there is certainly option of ride to Horton Plains.

It is located in a quite village, close to Horton Plains National Park, so it is the ideal hotel you could stay if you want to visit the park. Staff was very helpful, the room was huge, clean, confortable and it also has a balcony with an amazing view. We also had dinner at the hotel and the food was delicious.
