Don't believe the online videos or guidebooks that say that the whole of Meknes is a building site! While there is a lot of renovation going on, there are still marvelous things to see and do. The medina is very interesting and comes with very little hassling. Its worth taking a day trip - or longer - to the mid Atlas mountains.

I didn't enjoy Meknès itself that much but I would certainly recommend visiting the partially restored Roman city ruins of Volubilis. It's about a 45 mins drive up the mountains. Keep your speed limited to 60 km/h though as there are a lot of police speed traps! It costs 70 dh to enter the grounds and around 200 dh to get a guide to show you around (mine spoke excellent English).

We only stayed 1 night to see Volubulis. We should have stayed longer. The vendors had quality merchandise and prices were by far better than Fes and Marrakech. Our hosts were very hospitable. The room was comfortable and beautiful. This town is the real heart of Morocco.

Many attractions are covered up, undergoing constructions.

Many attractions are covered up, undergoing constructions. Not much to do here for 3;days. Medina: alleys are dusty, lots of cats poop along the way. Cats roaming these alleys look dirty and sickly. Better Options: Stay in Fes and just travel to Meknes for a day to see some attractions. Train ride to Meknes is only 28 dirhams one way. Option 2 - stay in a riad in Meknes for 1 day.

    Relatively relaxed and hassle free.

Relatively relaxed and hassle free. A lot of renovation is going on (September 2023) so some monuments and museums are closed. The Jamai museum is excellent. Nearby Volubilis is also well worth a visit. Fez is roughly an hour away by car/bus/train so an easy day trip.

Meknes is going thorough significant change and refurbishment - especially the medina and square. The souk are no longer traditional - they are markets catering to local people. The city clearly has some fantastic history and the Riad we stayed in was part of that but I didn’t see enough attraction for more than a very short visit. If you are visited Volobulis, I would recommend staying in Moulay Iddriss instead.

The breakfast was outstanding- the best that we’ve had in Morocco- served every morning on the delightful terrace filled with beautiful plants and stunning views. The coffee was great (best yet!) and the large carafe of fresh orange juice to die for. We also ordered dinner on the terrace one evening and it was superb. Delicious home cooked food with an incredible salad and fruit selection. The riad was beautifully renovated with great attention to detail. I highly recommended staying here in Meknes.

Our stay was fantastic! The riad is 600 years old, architecture and design are so authentic and take you to the journey through time. Our room was big with high ceiling and very comfortable. The hosts are so lovely people, it was a great pleasure to have conversations with them. Breakfast was traditional, good and tasty. If you are visiting Meknes, you should definitely stay in this riad as it’s not just a hotel but an extraordinary experience that will enrich you Moroccan trip.

We liked everything about our stay here. When we arrived the reception we received was very friendly. We were given some mint tea and some small cakes. It is a really nice touch. The room was great and there was a good shower which was essential as it was hot when we were in Meknes. The air conditioning was also essential. Finally, the breakfast was one of the best we had whilst touring Morocco with fresh fruit and freshly made omelette. It seemed to keep on coming out.

This small hotel is Cosy and clean. It's in the best location of the city, easy to get around by local taxis. Amazing restaurants around too. It's not far away from the Medina, which is amazing! The best part was the food. I give that 5 star! Moroccan breakfast, large portions with great selections. One more thing, we booked and went in to check in immediately, they were so accommodating they let us check in earlier!

We have been 3 weeks in Morocco. This is by far the best Riad we have found. Everything was great and value wise it can't be faulted. A simple case of making the place clean, modern both tranquil & charming, somewhere you can relax. Not what we have found in mostly all the other Riads! So good we ate in both nights. If ever we go to Meknes again this is where we will book. Excellent 10/10

Really recommend staying here. Has that elegent riad thing going on, nicely decorated, and a good room as well. Appreciated how chill it was. Location is basically perfect, in the old part of Meknes right next to the medina but not actually in it, so you don't step out the front door right into the thick of things, which is perfect I think. Lovely staff as well.

i liked our time at villa Fatima , my kids had a lot of fun at the pool, the house was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. the description said that there’s no parking but I parked my car right in front of the villa like most neighbors, it was a plus. the AC was a blessing because Meknes was super hot during our stay.

Rachid, the manager, was extremely welcoming and attentive to guest needs. He endeavored to make the Riad feel like home for any traveler. The other staff work seamlessly with him to ensure that Dar Meknès is a warm and receptive environment. The beautiful 400 year old Riad's restoration is also a bonus.

Breakfast was tasty and served at a lovely terrace on the rooftopof the hotel. The staff were kind in accommodating us with breakfast timings, and they recommended us a parking lot before arriving (Lalla Aouda). Our room was large and the house very historic as it used to be a medresa.

You walk the narrow ordinary street of Meknes, reach the hotel, you have no great expectations and then BOOM you are shocked what you find behind that door. This place is like no hotel, I would say i have spent a night in a Museum. Really cool atmosphere. Very nice staff. Thank you.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how comfortable I was at the hotel. The bed was perfect, everything was spotlessly clean, everything worked well (including the hot water, often elusive in Morocco). It was a restful place to end long days of exploration.
