Pros: Soft and supportive bed, washing machine, good location (car park 2 minutes away and the old town entry about 10 minutes away). There was a problem with the boiler (no hot water) and the host was initially a bit prickly about it but then did work to solve it and communication was softer. Check in was easy with a lock box.

Location is really handy, although you don't get any real view. Lots of shops/buses really nearby, and Valetta itself is really close. Nice quiet neighbourhood, apartment is only 5 minutes walk from the airport buses.

This was our first time visiting Malta.
Il furjana is full of interesting buildings and historical sights. We went on two bus tours one to the north and one to the south of the island and took the ferry across to Sliema. We learned a lot about the history of Malta whilst on the tours,Well worth doing.
After moving from the awful Tritoni Boutique Valetta hotel we managed to book last minute a room at the Cumberland Hotel for 5 nights, perfectly situated right in the heart of Valetta amongst lots of bars and restaurants. We also stayed one night at the Grand Excelsior ten minutes walk from Valetta with lovely views across the bay as the Cumberland were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate us for the total of 6 nights
Both hotels were excellent. The rooms were large, very clean, the beds comfortable with perfect bed linen, bathroom toiletries abundant. In addition breakfast options were vast. Well presented, fresh and your choice of hot breakfasts provided on request.
I’m celiac and nothing was too much trouble for either hotel.
The Cumberland provided a vast array of cooked breakfasts with Gluten free options. the Grand Hotel Chef offered to make me gluten free pancakes too if I wanted them but they had a choice of gluten free breads, muffins, lots of fruit and much, much more more.
I would definitely go back to Valetta.

Visit Malta make sense only if you have (for some reason) connecting flights so you have an after noon or a day to kill, otherwise it is wasting of time and money. Literally, avoid it and go to Italy or Spain instead.

Furjana is an old quarter next to Valletta with real Maltese architecture. It is excellent for the stay of tourists who want to be practically in Valletta and close to the main bus station from which buses leave for the whole island.

The location was good and most of the sights in Valletta were easily walkable. Prepare yourself for lots of walking!
Plenty of eateries and bars but shop around as prices do vary.
Do invest in a bus pass. For €20 it lasts for 7 days and there is no limit as to how many times you use it. We used the bus every day and usually on several routes to get around the island.

Beautiful area near the center city gate of Valletta , very close is the terminal bus station from where you can take any bus , save area, calm and relax , nice people. a bit windy and rainy in winter ,january .We eat twice at Beati Paoli Restaurant in Valletta ,excellent food and wine ,good price for the quality offered . il- furjana is also called Floriani and it is a neighborhood in Valletta .I think it is easier to get around with a rented car ( there are 2 parking lots across the street from the hotel ) , buses can be crowded and you need to pay attention to bus direction , they work on the other way ! We took the ferry to visit the tree cities from the port (15 min walk ) , we loved Birgu and Isla .In Valletta city the tanks are shooting at 12.00 am every day except on sunday, and it is very nice to watch this , beautiful view .The buildings are very nice with their balconies and beautiful colorful wood doors .

A short walk from the bus terminus - which serves the whole island. You can get anywhere from here. And the bus terminus is by the city gate into Valetta, so plenty of choice of restaurants and bars on foot. You can also walk down to the waterfront by the cruise terminal and get a ferry over to the 3 cities across Grand Harbour. Close to the bars and restaurants, but far enough away not to be noisy. There's a useful little mini-supermarket a (real) minute's walk away.
