Try to plan to be there on Saturday evening at 9pm to see the wonderful fireworks at the cathedral. Be there early. They only last 5 minutes but they're great.

A historical cultural center with many museums, pink stone Baroque architecture, many outdoor cafes, plazas, good food everywhere. A lively, rather sophisticated city indicative of its many colleges and universities. Spanish Catholic influences with a strong undertone of deep indigenous traditions. Outlying areas with ancient archeological sites and interesting artisan towns. Third largest lake in Mexico.

We enjoyed the main street, the park, the street performers, the aqueduct, the magnificent architectural tours available. We also loved to listen and dance to our favorite band, Musico Vocal Horus, which plays five nights a week at Onix restaurant.

This was not our first visit to Morelia, but it was our first visit since Covid. It is a gracious city with beautiful architecture. Coincidentally it was a holiday weekend, so the historical center was abuzz with activity. This was our first stop on our way to other destinations, but it is certainly not out last visit to Morelia or Michoacan.

Morelia was one of the most interesting and lovely cities I’ve visited in Mexico. We loved the zoo, spent 5 hours there, and were blown away by the gardens and the giraffe encounter. We walked many miles through the historic center, enjoyed restaurants, street performers, the scenery, the double-decker bus tour, and touring and photographing the interiors and exteriors of the many historic churches and cathedrals. We found people friendly to us as Americans, and we felt safe and welcome. Thank you, Morelia, for sharing your beauty, warmth, and culture with a couple of happy Americans!

I booked a day and a half for Morelia.
I booked a day and a half for Morelia. It was about half way on a longer trip I was making. I had always wanted to see its Cathedral, but didn't think there was much more. I couldn't have been more wrong! Within the first hour, I knew I'd have to go back! The Centro is amazing! The old Colonial buildings are still standing and modern life just exists within. My hotel left one wall uncovered...nothing like sleeping next to a wall from a city founded in the 1500s!! I spent the day touring 2 former convents, the childhood home of Morelos (for whom Morelia is named) and, of course the beautiful Cathedral. One highlight of many was watching the 'Old Man Dance' in the central plaza. I had seen the dance before in Santa Barbara, CA, but to see it where it originated was magical! I feasted on traditional mole, carnitas, corundas and uchepos and I attended a retelling of the Morelia legends. (Spoiler: Doña Fernanda is still wandering the streets at night looking for her lost daughter.) I saw a Nativity scene that filled an entire plaza and watched from my balcony as the entire town showed up for the lighting of their beloved Cathedral. All this and I barely ventured off the main street! I will definitely go back to this Pueblo Mágico!
The location of the hotel sits in the heart of downtown morelia. Everything is walking distance and felt real safe. The hotel itself can use an upgrade, and the Staff can use a customer service experience training. No on one welcomed you and the two male receptionist were constantly kissing each other and being frisky. NOT PROFESSIONAL. I would stay there again buy it wouldn't ne my first choice.
The location is good, an easy walk into the Centro Historico and many restaurants, bars, shops...
The room is furnished smart, the bed little too soft for me, but I know many people like that.
The shower is great, everything works well. Many outlets, a rooftop to sit outside and a kitchen for communal use.
Juanita greeted us very friendly and explained everything nicely (locked main entrance)
The hotel is nicely located in the center of Morelia. There’s a general store next to it just in case you need to buy any supplies. They have a restaurant in the bottom on the hotel that has some delicious meat. The staff is very helpful with anything you need and the manager speaks English. This hotel is so beautiful and the staff was great
Best thing about this place is the location, albeit on a busy road I think most of Morelia central is pretty loud. Its nice to be within a very short walk of the main plaza. Each bed has plugs and a light which is good. Also a nice building but this hostel has such wasted potential...
This is a very stylish hotel just one block from the main square of Morelia. The rooms are large with high ceilings and are very comfortable. The staff is amazing going out of their way to satisfy all your requests. I was offered breakfast and it was copious and delicious.
They sell soft drinks and snacks, apparently the hotel does not have a restaurant but there is a restaurant next door.
There is availability to park the vehicle inside and outside the hotel
The bus station of Morelia, Michoacán. it is across the street
Beautiful hotel with old charm but with modern facilities. Our corner room was a bit small but very elegant and clean. The bed and pillows were amazing…very comfortable!! The restaurant has a lot of greenery around it and the food is delicious
I love this hotel...I stay here every time I pass through Morelia...it's elegant, with a garden, quiet and restful...also good restaurants around and a short 60 pesos Uber or taxi to the historical centre .. staff are amazing
An intelligent architect had to be behind the layout of my room: airy, well distributed, plenty of light, great bathroom.
The restaurant has great food, better than the ones at Centro Histórico. And the waiter was helpful.
I have stayed at this hotel several times before and this hotel is my preference in Morelia. The rooms, staff, location, dining is delicious, very courteous people. Expect to be there again later in the year
The beds and pillows were very comfortable with enough pillows. The hotel was very quite and a few blocks from the main plaza in downtown. Breakfast was satisfying. The shower had hot water.
Our stay at the hotel was almost excellent! The view is brilliant! The staff was kind and helpful, the room was clean and cozy, worth to stay for a night or two!
The hotel is very well-located, in the center of Morelia. The staff is exremely kind and friendly, they also speak english, and they are always willing to help.
