Hoorn has some nice places where you can go for a drink,...
Hoorn has some nice places where you can go for a drink, where sometimes there are performances by local bands. There are also several restaurants with different kinds of food. Don't expect a big city with lots of facilities though, since there's no supermarket (you can find one in the next town, 10 min by bike). There is one bakery and one store where they sell different kinds of stuff, like souvenirs, books, ice cream and recreational gear like kites and diving goggles. Hoorn has lots of places where you can stay, they have campings as well as B&B's and hotels. When you rent a bike, the beach is only 10 minutes away from the centre. By foot, this is about 25 minutes. Nearby the town, there's a forest which is lovely to discover by foot. There are several routes to take with different lengths. Every 3 quarters, there's a bus that stops if you want to visit the other villages on the island, or the largest town West-Terschelling. Overall, it's a cozy, little town with a great atmosphere. Next to the cafés and the covered wagon rides onto the beach, there isn't really a lot to do in the town itself. You can rent a bike practically anywhere on the island, so you're able to easily visit other places if you want.

The food was amazing - evening meals were perfect and the breakfast was very complete. Due to Covid restrictions and closed restaurants, they even allowed us to make a pack lunch every day. We stayed in the garden house, which is cosy and very comfortable. The beds were a little too soft for us but that's a matter of personal taste, I am sure. All in all, excellent accommodation and very recommendable.

Nice, large room in a tiny hotel with a sitting and a dining area. Strong shower and nice and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was good.Carpenter CherylNetherlands
