This is a hotel with a gorgeous view and with staff that are first class. I stayed here before, when it was a proper Pousada but losing that status has not lowered its standards. The restaurant staff were excellent, the food was OK

It's a great base from which to see the surrounding area - Beira Baixa and Serra da Estrela. The village itself has some interesting sights, but we thought there are more beautiful places to visit (like Sortelha). There was hardly any tourism.

The staff was wonderful.
The staff was wonderful. The restaurant was lovely, with very interesting menu choices, like partridge, and mushroom ice cream ( which was fabulous au natural, but didn’t like it when dressed with the sauces). Overall, the food was excellent, but also, a bit salty for me.
The breakfast could have been better, some dark rolls, and eggs would be nice. The coffee machine coffee burned my stomach, but I didn’t realize it until the 4th day! I thought there was something wrong with me until I left and my stomach got better. Then I realized it was the coffee!
Also, it was easy to drive to other great villages, like Monsanto and Sortelha.

We particularly enjoyed visiting the Jewish museum and Synagogue. We found the accommodation ideal as we were able to leave our dog there whilst we visited the museums. We enjoyed dinner in the local restaurant a few minutes away from the property.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, a beatiful location with nice views, the room was exactly as was described. The room has a double bed, a toilet with a shower, a small storage room with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle. Some orange juice, fresh bread, jam and grape liqueur, a small table in the room and a small table on the patio were all a nice touch, and we felt very welcome and well looked after. The property is a short drive away from the historic centre of Belmonte. We would happily go back again.
We loved our stay in The Vagar.
The warmth welcome of the owner Marta, Vera and the girls.
Their attention to every detail made us feel very at home.
We cannot describe in words how beautiful this country house is. How wonderful the people running it, is.
This hotel / CountryHouse has only six rooms. The decoration is modern warmth. Simple yet very tasteful.
The views from the surrounding valleys are wonderful.
Very nice apartment with a lovely terrace area. Good and reasonably well equipped little kitchen for basic self-catering. Parking was easy to find nearby. Belmonte is a great town and good location to explore the eastern side of Serra da Estrella and nearby villages such as Sortelha.
It is a unique hotel with unique young couple, Marta and Andre, running it.
I t is more than hotel because they offer a whole senses experience in a big mention in the nature.
we recommend this new hotel!

from the beautiful room to the unique bar area this was one of our favourite stays in Portugal. fabulous meals and a relaxing pool, quiet nook reading areas throughout the main floor. wonderful breakfast and free parking.
A nice hotel with the facilities well managed. Location is good in Belmonte, which is a nice village. Staff is nice and very helpful. Breakfast is good.
The apartment looks like on the website and is situated in the center of Belmonte. If you come by car, look for a parking place a bit further the house.
