We enjoyed our 4 days here. The room was clean (and it was cleaned daily). The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. It rained a lot, and we made good use of the common area downstairs with a fireplace. The owner (Armando) was extremely helpful. He never made us feel rushed, and he gave us a lot of information. We couldn’t have asked for better service. The rest of the staff was friendly and efficient. We would definitely stay here again.

Spacious room, kitchen well enough equiped for preparing simple meals. Bars and restaurants nearby. Silent at night.
We came on the bus from Braga. Actually, there was a one-day strike and we took a taxi. We took the bus back. The bus runs infrequently and you have to buy the ticket on the bus. Once in Geres, if you don't have a car, you can find out about the trails from the tourist info center so you can get into the park. We also opted for a 4 hr tour with Carlos at Lobos Tours and it was worth the $40 to see all the parts of the park and some of the small villages and the waterfalls. He was born and raised there and has alot of knowledge of the area. One bummer of the visit was the Parque de Termas is only open intermittently and was closed when we were there. Apparently this is a problem. If you want a hot spring dip, you need to go to the Spanish border. Not far away, but need transport. It is a nice village overall.

Geres is a unique place where you can see nature in its best, there are so many attractions even on low-session, and plenty of native restaurants along all routes, i have been there for 5/6 years in a row and I am still impressed with the place as you can see my own photographs attached. Rio Caldo on the lower edge of the park is stunning.
Rio Caldo on the lower edge of the park is stunning. Views are amazing. There are plenty of bars and cafes, and a small well stocked supermarket. It has a good public transport network. We hired a kayak twice during our stay with AML.

Don't try to go to Geres for a long weekend, it's not enough...
Don't try to go to Geres for a long weekend, it's not enough time but if that's all you have, then don't miss it! Amazing hiking and quaint villages all around. We chased waterfalls for 3 days and loved it.
The Sao Bento da Porta Aberta Sanctuary was so unique and loved the juxtaposition of the old and new churches. Stunning tiles in the new museum.
We also had a quick stop at the Vilarinho das Furnas dam. We love dams but still cool to see. A short easy walk from the dam is a cute waterfall and a perfect spot for a picnic.
Keep your eyes peeled for wild horses and shepherds with their cows and goats.
The town of Geres itself is small but I really enjoyed a quick stroll around town and found some great artisan shops to get souvenirs.

We had a fantastic time in Geres.
We had a fantastic time in Geres. The staff at Baltazar Hotel were extremely helpful and kind- especially Orlando. We had a challenging and beautiful hike and spent one afternoon with a guide who showed us so much of the park. The food and generosity of the Baltazar staff was wonderful. We would come back for a longer stay next time and recommend to anyone.

Very nice picturesque location, beautiful lake at the bottom...
Very nice picturesque location, beautiful lake at the bottom of the surrounding mountains near the hotel. Hotel was very clean, and big. I was pleasantly surprised. Polite man at the reception when we got there, very attentive and prompt when requests were made. My only advise to anyone checking out in the early hours, e.g. around 03.30am is to allow extra time because there may not be anyone readily available as they will be carrying out other tasks (as the polite lady mentioned when the bell at reception wasnt attended to with the usual promptness). Other than that, extremely wonderful stay
You can not beat the location. The views from the rooms overlooking the valley are simply breath-taking. You could easily sit on the balcony and watch the changing light and clouds for hours. The hotel is tucked away behind the church of São Bento with off-street parking conveniently close. Facilities are basic but very good - one of the best showers we used in northern Portugal :) and speedy wifi. A lovely sanctuary with fantastic value for money.
This is one of the best accommodations we've stayed in in Spain/Portugal. A fantastic value. Big kitchen/dining area. Separate living room with a television, games, and a guitar. Comfortable bedrooms with private bathrooms. Very clean. Staff is helpful and kind. Great location right near the bus stop, grocery stores, and of course mountains!
We were going to stay a couple nights, and ended up staying five! Highly recommend.
We loved the place, the restaurant n the warm welcome ✨ We definitely would like to stay at Pimpao next time! Family-owned business 5 mins from the village. Very hard-working crew, the first night we dined there and the restaurant was fully packed but we were very well treated ✨ Very friendly staff 🌟 😆 Thank u for making our visit to Geres so pleasant 🌺🌼🌻✨🌟💯 We highly recommend!!
The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed. And the biggest plus was ofcourse the big terrace with the wonderfull view of the water, bridge and hills. The wifi worked very well and the car is parked next to your house behind a private gate. You can swim from your own platform. The owner is kind. Restaurants and boat rental nearby. Also Geres for walking.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff members were incredibly friendly, the breakfast selection was impressive, with a variety of delicious options to choose from, including fresh fruits and local specialties. The hotel's location is truly remarkable, with a 2 minutes walk to the lake. The room had a very comfortable bed, with stunning views of the lake.
The house is just perfect. Very tastefully designed, spotlessly clean and in quiet area. Fully equipped kitchen. Big outside area with view of the lake and barbeque. The hosts are very friendly, they welcomed us upon arrival and even put some products for a breakfast in the fridge. Walking distance to the lake beach and 30 minutes from the Peneda Geresh.
We had a recent stay at Hotel Sao Bento while visiting the beautiful Geres national park. I was very impressed with the helpfulness and kindness of the staff. In particular I would like to give thanks to the outstanding service of Joao in reception and the joyfulness of Diana and Marco in the restaurant. Thank you very much.
The staff are honestly so excellent. Very kind & helpful. The spa facilities were exactly what we needed and it being 10e per person was so brilliant of the hotel to keep prices accessible, that kind of thing does not go unnoticed and we will be recommending the hotel to friends & family. The breakfast was also lovely.
Nice hotel in a quiet street, very close to the centre of Vila Geres. The beds are very comfortable. This hotel is a 2 star hotel, but it deserves to be a 3 star hotel.
Wonderful view from the balcony on the mountains.
The staff was very helpful, for instance to give advice about the hiking trails.
Really lovely hotel. Large comfortable room. Great view from the balcony. Great breakfast selection. Only a 10 minute walk into town. In a good location to explore the national park. Plenty of car parking. Pool was cold but still a great place to relax with lovely views.
It was simple but for very fair price. Really clean with a nice view from the balcony. The breakfast was nice in the hotel next (just a few meters walk) with a pleasent terrace to eat outside. Parking was super practical too. The stuff was polite and nice.
Location was spot on and the hotel is very beautiful in its ArtDéco style. Receptionists are very kind and helpful! The rooms were a bit old, but I like that esthetic, so for me there was no problem with that. The rooms are very spacious.
The property and location is realy nice. As always, Selina made a good job converting an old "hotel" to their concept. Hardware is good (beds, showers, pool, lights, etc)
Beautiful views and lots of space. The patio was perfect and had a basketball court. The host (Pedro) was so kind and helpful with suggestions and quick to respond.
