Loved the rooftop pool and hot tub, the sauna and steam rooms on the lower level, the fun furniture and decor throughout the common areas, the kind and helpful staff, the amazing breakfasts, and the location. In fact, we liked it so much that we forfeited a night at another hotel to return to Castanheiro for our final night in Funchal.

The location of the hotel was wonderful if you want to be close to old town. The lobby and breakfast area were beautiful. Our room was outdated and a bit noisy but the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. The underground parking garage was fantastic but cost 10 euro a day to park.
