Longroiva Hotel Rural, hotel in Longroiva

Longroiva Hotel Rural offers free WiFi throughout the property and rooms with air conditioning in Longroiva.

Our large room on the third floor had a little terrace with a view of a mountainside. We loved sitting and listening to the variety of birds, even a cuckoo! I did morning yoga in a special meditation room. They also had a kids play area, pool table/game area and quiet desk - all indoors with nature view. The heated outdoor pool with massaging jets was incredible after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was excellent with great views from large windows. The beds were comfy and the room temperature control was very responsive. The staff were so courteous and helpful. They gave us a 20% off voucher for the Quinta Vale de Aldeia which led us to take their marvelous tour and tasting. There aren't enough stars for this hotel.

Marisa is an incredible host. The property was excellent, clean and comfortable. She greeted us with a smile and shared her knowledge of the history of Marialva. Her welcoming demeanor and warmth were a a pleasant surprise. Her warm breakfast was incredible and her tour of the cheese museum was well received. I would recommend a visit to this sleepy town. Well-worth the drive. Obrigada Marisa!

Lovely house, warm hosts with deep local knowledge. I was there in the winter, so no chance to use the pool. Teresa and Miguel went the extra mile to make my stay comfortable. They helped me book a tour of the nearby ancient rock art, and then called to update me about a schedule change. They were great. Excellent breakfast, and wonderful big towels in a fine private bathroom.

A Queijaria, hotel in Longroiva

Featuring a sun terrace with a swimming pool, A Queijaria is located in Barreira and offers activities such as milking goats, herding farm animals and donkey rides. Complimentary WiFi is available.

We arrived late in the evening and were warmly greeted by our great host Marisa with a local pastry made from almond flour(?) and offer of coffee and tea. In the morning we had a copious breakfast in the spacious shared kitchen; but we were the only guests so we had the whole undivided attention of Marisa. She served us home made rolls, fresh cheese, jams and organic produce from her farm which tasted excellent. She also gave us a lovely tour of her cheese factory for which her property was named for. On her advice we toured the castle of Marialva where we met a Spanish couple who in turn urged us to go visit the archeological engraving at the Foz Coa Archeological Park. The visit to the Penascosa site under the guidance of Mr. Marco Feirrera (Sorry if I misspell the name) was exceptionally educational and entertaining; not to be missed if you are in the area or even well worth a detour to visit one of the three sites of the park.

Hotel ok; good bed; room very small; good balcony but almost Impossible to access - the door das stuck. Heated outside swiming pool very small. Restaurant was a disaster: the onion soup was in reality a potato puree with a toast with a bit of onion and cheese on top and the bolognese on the spaggetty bad no tomato sauce at all. But the best was yet to come: rotten watermelon, dry and cold scrambled eggs. The termal facilities were good.

The Côa Valley is a must to visit.

The Côa Valley is a must to visit. The landscape of olive trees and vineyards are stunning. I recommend visiting the Paleontology museum which contains interesting interactive features about the history of the valley. The view from the restaurant's museum is unforgettable! Booking a tour in a Jeep 4x4 to explore the rock's carving is also an interesting activity. If it's very hot, try to do it during the evening.

This hotel exceeded my expectations - the bedroom and bathroom were amazing and the staff very friendly. We checked out approximately 2 hours late because we went to the swimming pool, and the staff did not mind and encourage us to do so because they were not at full capacity. Other hotels wouldn't have authorised that or charged more. The breakfast was very good as well with quite a lot of option and some local products. This is a great place to stay and relax for a few days (2/3 days), and visit cities nearby, such as Vila Nova de Foz Côa and Torre de Moncorvo.
