We loved the space, great decoration. The paints are by the hand of Todd, the owner. Great taste! Beautiful looking space.
Super close to the river beach, garganta do Cabril. Paradise on earth!
Housed in an 18th-century palace, this hotel blends a historical setting with picturesque views of the Lousã Mountains. Set in beautiful gardens, Octant Lousa features an outdoor pool.

This hotel is stunning. Clean and well cared for, the staff clearly care about the hotel and it's reputation. Breakfast was delicious and had great variety. I would recommend Octant Lousa to any and all travellers. Wow.

Location: a small Schist Village with only a few houses built of stone, with great views for mountains around. There are three other Schist Vilages joined by a marked trail (bring a pair good boots for the trail). It is a calm silent place with almost none civilization around.
Hotel: An old stone home was converted into a modern apartment, preserving historic style and charm. There are two levels (both with ground level access thanks to different level of the ground). We stayed at the studio that occupies all the upper level.
For check-in we got a code for a lock-box with keys.
Room: The studio is comfortable and spacey, about 150 m2 (by error the description says only 15m2), consists of a large bedroom, large living room (with additional two bunk beds), kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful wooden floor and furniture including full size table in the living room.
electric sockets: many available, but these near the bed are occupied by lamps.
lighting: good, the table has good light for reading.
Bed: large and comfortable
Bathroom: medium in size, heated, large space for toiletries near the bathtub. We noticed only normal sounds of gas oven with automatic control for heating water and rooms. Worked well and hot water was stable as well as room was warm when we arrived.
Breakfast: good, fresh bread, ham and cheese is delivered daily at your door, jam, butter, jam are packed in advance into a refrigerator. There is no service, you must prepare breakfast yourself (often in case of the local accommodation – alojamento local – in Portugal).
Kitchen: you will wind all you need to prepare meals. Buy food for your stay in advance.
WiFi: good, strong signal and fast transfer.
Mobile network: signal is weak but it is possible to find a place where the signal is good enough to communicate.
Parking: The parking is available at the entrance to the village. I would recommend to park there as the streets are very narrow and steep. The place is safe.
Located 1640 feet above sea level, on the slopes of Serra da Lousã mountain, Casa da Urze AL is part of the Talasnal schist village. This stone-built house is 3.7 mi from Lousã Castle.

Very spacious, yet cozy, apartment. Full kitchen downstairs with all the appliances you could ask for. Has a woodstove (would have been nice in the winter). Really awesome views of the mountains. Staff were friendly and helpful.
A friendly town that will take modernized western travelers...
A friendly town that will take modernized western travelers back to a time when kids ran into corner food stores for penny candy. Beautiful nature hiking trails, climbing cliff faces and relaxing sandy river rock beaches. Everyone we passed was kind and the place in all is really beautiful. Feels good spending tourist dollars here, the town locals deserve to prosper.
