Charming old house and completely renovated inside. In the center of beatiful medieval town. Just next to Basilica. Andre is very friendly, helpful and speaking good english. The two floors appartement is exclusively cozy and clean ( thanks to Susanne). Her handmade marmelado is superb. We travel more than 14 years. This one is highly recommended.

CoraçãoD´Ouro, hotel in Torre de Moncorvo

CoraçãoD´Ouro offers accommodations in Torre de Moncorvo, 29 miles from Freixo de Espada a Cinta Church.

Location: Between the Sabor river and the Douro river, near IP2. When you cross the bridge on the Sabor go always up until you find the only yellow house – it’s the hotel. The location is quiet, with great views to the mountains and the Sabor river. The beach is close by. We recommend the Lamerinho restaurant (ca 800 m). The menu is very short: fried fish from the river served with chips and a salad. For the all-you-can-eat-and-drink (including wine and soft drinks) you will pay only 12,50 € pp (cash payment only). The place is a good base to explore south part of the Douro International Nature Park and the UNESCO site of the Coa Valley. Hotel: The building has three levels, each at the ground level (quite frequent in Portugal). The hosts live at the highest level, and the lowest level accommodate the hotel, 4 rooms, dining room and the terrace with great views. The hotel is separated and independent from the private area of the hosts. Room: small but functional, electric sockets available near the bed, lighting is OK Bed: large, for my wife it was very comfortable, for me little bit too hard, but I easily solved the problem with a duvet put on the mattress. Bathroom: large and comfortable, large shower cabin, good pressure of water. Breakfast: Excellent. If you prefer French style you can eat homemade jams, and homemade cake, fresh bread. In case you prefer German style you will find local meats, ham and cheese. We were also offered to make sandwiches to have a lunch during hiking we planned. WiFi: Good in the dining room and at the terrace, weak signal in the room. Parking: at the yard (rather tight). Alternatively there is also a parking space at the street – safe and more space. Staff: Excellent. Paula is very friendly and helpful. We could put our food into her refrigerator and were offered a boiling water to prepare our afternoon tea. If you stay more than one day ask Paula for a dinner. She loves to cook and prepares great food.

It such a lovely village with outstanding landscapes.

It such a lovely village with outstanding landscapes. You can walk and wonder around the village, go up to the mountains for some incredible views or even go to the Foz do Sabor river to get some sun. It's a perfect place if you want to be in contact with the nature (and yourself). It's one of my favorite places in Portugal - it can take your breath away.
