The breakfast was great, it had a homemade feeling. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The location is great, both for approaching from the motorway as well as for approaching using the local road to Trieste.

Divača is a quiet town/village on the railwy line between Ljubljana and Koper. It is very close to both Lipica and to skočjanske Jame. These caves are my favourites in Slovenia, although not to be visited if you have a problem walking.. The park surrounding the caves is very beautiful too.
Divača itself is quiet, but has a Cinema museum, which is popular with those interested in early silent films.
There area few trains three each day, and also a bus service during the week. Not at the weekend, however, as I found to my cost on another occasion when I drove a friend's car home for her - and then found there were no buses on Saturdays by which to travel back to the coast!, and the next train would have kept me late for my meeting. Luckily, there were others around to heading the same way.
While Skočjam and Lipica are open all year, there are also smaller caves in the area which are open only in the tourist season. To drive there from the coast takes about 30 minutes, and about the same driving time will take you to Postojna and the more famous caves there, or to Predjamskigrad, an amazing Castle , most of which is inside the mountain, hence its name - the castle in front of the cave.
The breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel! The woman who provides it is fantastic! The room was lovely (much more than I needed for one person) and had more than enough closet space and hooks. Wasn't expecting a terrace but it was absolutely wonderful to have. Also, the staff were caring and top notch to go above and beyond for a human, professional experience. In addition, the attached restaurant around the corner was exquisite! Yummy truffles and you have to taste the house-made liker teran!
Hotel Malavec is an older hotel but had decent sized rooms and was clean. The furnishings were a little outdated, but it all worked. They had a very nice breakfast in the morning that was included. Good parking and very close to the interstate but not close enough that you heard the cars. There were a couple of restaurants within walking distance in the small town. It’s a good location if you are there to see the caves.
Super friendly and helpful staff, nice cosy place close to the caves but not too close. Loved the patio where we had both breakfast and dinner. Overall a really positive experience! Recommend downloading the TototaGO app which gives you access to really cheap (approx €2,5/person) rides to eg Divaca and Lipica. Breakfast was super tasty!
I have been to this hotel 3 past times and they never disappoint. Breakfast is fresh and beautiful and the staff are always so accommodating. The restaurant around the back side of the hotel is one of the best in Slovenia!! I always eat there once before leaving, sensational.
The hostel is located in historical house 3 min walk from the caves and forest trail. Very welcoming and lovely host Paula drived me to the nearest shop in Divaca when I had arrived. She also drived me to the train station on my last day. I really enjoyed my stay there
The hotel is located at a nice and quiet area. All green around with bushes, field and forest. From the room we had nice panorama for the montains. The host is really polite and had a pleasure to make us feel comfortable.

Beautiful room (Nr 5) with a very nice bathroom, super kind owners, it was like a 5 star hotel! We were on our honeymoon and we were very lucky to find this awesome place! Thank you so much!
Very welcoming Family Hôtel, visitors from around the world, 4/5 stars professionalism level. Immerge in Slovenian culture, tradition and protected wilderness. Slovenia is a jewel.
Very friendly staff, good breakfast buffet, nice room at ground floor with access to small but tutored garden. Excellent food at the Restaurant of the hotel - clear recommendation!
Great location in Divaca. Secure spot for our bikes. Excellent restaurant for dinner and included breakfast. Great places to eat outside or inside. Helpful hosts.
Our hosts were so accommodating with a free lift to and from Divaca station, beautiful room and great location right next to the trail that leads to the caves!
