The location of the camp is very convenient if you are planning to do golden monkey trekking or to climb Mount Sabiyeno. The Mgahinga national park gate for those activities is right beside the camp. It’s about a 25 minute drive to the other gate used to climb Mount Muhavula.
The camp’s grounds are well-maintained. It’s quiet and feels secure. It’s right next to the community and staff will provide an informative guided community walk for $10 US per person.
The rooms are clean. Furnishings are basic but comfortable. Decor is traditional. We stayed in two different rooms. One was more spacious and could sleep up to four people. It had a lovely private porch. There’s also a common porch on the main building where meals are served, and a volleyball net. The food was delicious and abundant.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and professional.
This Camp is excellent value for the money.

This was a great hotel in Kisoro. The facilities were great, it has breakfast included with many different options and they were tasty. The host, Ivan, is an encyclopedia of knowledge on Uganda and surrounding areas. He helped book a tour for me and also transport to the border with Rwanda. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a great night at the homestay. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast is served on site and dinner is just a short drive away. Both were delicious. Our host Emily went above and beyond to make our stay better and helped us sort our Gorilla Trek the next day. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Mgahinga!

What a wonderful stay! Gideon and Esther were above and beyond welcoming. The gated house has two rooms with attached bathrooms, along with other rooms I didn't see, but my guide stayed in. They provided a warm, local dinner and great conversation. We had tea together and fresh fruits and juice were provided upon my arrival. Their son came by and was enjoyable to talk to. He is an eco-conservationist and manages a nearby zip line you should check out. They leant me soap and basins for washing my clothes and had clothes lines in the back, surrounded by a growing veggie garden we ate from. They don't have permanent wifi yet, but their son provides a fast hotspot through a phone left overnight.
When you meet good, local people during long travels, you feel at home. I hope they are doing well and that more people visiting Kisoro stay in this accommodating homestay!

Gorilla Hills Eco-Lodge is a fantastic place to base your gorilla trekking adventure. The facilities are clean, comfortable, and well appointed, but what makes this place special is the staff. They are fantastic. We never wanted for anything. The service was incredibly personal and they went above and beyond at every opportunity to ensure our comfort and happiness.
There was quite a serious snafu with our gorilla permits and Anette and her staff bent over backwards to straighten it out for us. Without their intervention, we would have left Bwindi without seeing the gorillas. They saved our entire trip. I can't thank them enough.
The gorilla trekking was absolutely the highlight of our stay in Uganda. If you are going, it is a must do - bucket list- incredible experience. That said, with total confidence, I highly recommend Gorilla Hills Eco-Lodge.

It is the starting point to go Gorilla tracking.
It is the starting point to go Gorilla tracking. That is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I could not imagine how close you can get to these wonderful creatures.
Kisoro is busy and dusty. Has a nice market. The road to Mgahinga park is very rough.
