the breakfast is quite possibly one of the most incredible things about this hotel. They provide it with your reservation, and it is cooked for you, offered in the room or at a beautiful outdoor courtyard on property with a fireplace. The staff was very helpful, and offered amenities like free rides up the hill to the center of town. This hotel is down by the beach, just a block away, which is why I chose to stay here vs 6 blocks up hill in the center of town. It is quiet, private, a nice sanctuary. they place a lot of emphasis on their spa and the bathrooms. Those latter are amazing, each (I believe) has a tub with bath salts, etc, plus robes, slippers. I did not try the spa, but it seemed to be a destination for many of those staying there. (We were there in the offseason, February). The hotel’s food is quite good too although we only had snacks and a couple drinks at their bar. I believe the rates are a good value, for what you receive.

This is our third time coming to Carmel, and if I win the lotto, I will buy here. It is like nothing else you can experience on the West Coast. There are so many shops, wine tasting, hundreds of wonderful restaurants, and, did I say shopping? We coordinated this trip with a concert at the Sun Set Center. If you can attend a concert there, you will not be let down. It was amazing and within walking distance.

Carmel is a cute, charming seaside town with plenty of shopping and restaurants. Mostly all parking is on-street parallel parking. The Adobe Inn, where we stayed, is located within a block of all the restaurants and shops and even has its own parking garage located below the Inn. At night the town pretty much clears out after 9 or 10, but walking back to the Inn felt safe. The town is also a great base if you are planning on visiting Monterey, 17 Mile Drive, or Big Sur.

The morning and afternoon is the best time to spend it in Carmel. During night time it’s not lit up as you think it would be. But during the day it’s absolutely amazing. All the shops, cafes, restaurants. The walking. Everything is near by. The beach to the town is like 10 min walk. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days

Although a little crowded before Christmas, we loved Carmel.
Although a little crowded before Christmas, we loved Carmel. A lot of good restaurants to eat, not cheap, but a long list of great places. Friendly people. Great beach and other beaches near by. You can visit Monterey, close by.
Excellent location, with the town of Carmel less than a 10-minute walk and the beach just a little over 20 minutes on foot. The outdoor communal area at the hotel was a nice touch and we enjoyed relaxing there in the evening after wandering around the town, with comfortable seating, and fires to keep us warm when the temperature dropped off.
Room was very comfortable, spacious and quiet. Access to ice, tea water and a microwave was very convenient. The ground are lovely and the location was perfect! Quiet neighbourhood but only 5 minutes walk to center and beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The price of my room (reserved well in advance) was reasonable for Carmel in July.
Really friendly welcome with fresh baked cookies which were a nice touch.. The hotel is a really easy walk into downtown and close to the beach too, The person on reception was able to give us lots of suggestions for dinner with many restaurants offering discounts or complimentary food for hotel guests. Lots of parking spaces too.
It was a clean, new and super cozy little Hotel. The room was clean and had everything that was needed. Breakfast was okay but Carmel has a bunch of cute places to get a proper one, especially for those who are vegan. The location was close to the city center and just a 15min walk away from the beach. I would always come back!
Room adequate, bit crowded with furnishings. Location not the best, at top of hill, limited tight parking if hotel would be full. Breakfast basket more than adequate. Loads of construction all over Carmel, no street parking in town and it was off month of January. Could not imagine how it would be in busier season
The hotel is a bit dated but in very good condition and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast is a plus. They deliver to your doorstep and it's delicious. The location is great, we could walk to the best restaurants in Carmel and it's only 10-15 minutes to Point Lobos.
Lovely place, great deal for the money, especially in expensive Carmel!Great location, in Carmel by the Sea, walking distance to everything! Nice outdoor seating patio area, to have a meal or glass of wine. Friendly, helpful staff.
The hotel's location is amazing. It's easy to walk to the beach. The hotel is Old Charm for Carmel with wonderful staff. There are so many places to eat here, but the hotel is also great. It has an amazing happy hour.
The hotel is not luxury, but in a very good tradition of the city of Carmel. A very good place for those who like a quiet place to relax. Loved the service and delicious breakfast. Liked the location.
Unimpressively mediocre room for a ridiculous 5 star boutique hotel prize. I come frequently to Carmel and check out new locations to stay. This place will become one of the more unpleasant memories.
I did not have the breakfast. The location was perfect close to the beach. My daughter’s first time in Carmel by the sea. She was very impressed with our stay at Normandy Inn we both were.
Pros - close to everything that’s Carmel by the Sea. Good restaurant choices within a block walk. If you are a walker like we are, we never used our vehicle during our three day stay.
Great location next to the Carmel River with a walking path near it. It’s a large property with a number of stand alone cottages available. The inn is very dog friendly!
Carmel-by-the-Sea is one of my favorite locations! Hotel in a central location, near restaurants and close to beautiful beaches and 17-mile drive. Felt safe.
